Page 57 of Perfect Guy
Canaan: Don’t plan on it. Did you have a good time with your family yesterday?
Madelyn: I did. Jase says he’ll kick your ass if you hurt me. The other guys agreed but I defended you so don’t worry
Canaan: I feel much better *insert sarcasm*
Madelyn: Lol don’t worry about them. They’re just watching out for me
Canaan: I know. I do the same for Joy
Madelyn: I know you do. I like that you get it. Get rest. I hate that I’m keeping you up
Canaan: Ah, keeping me “up” you are
Madelyn: Dirty mind
Canaan: With you? Always. Can’t help it. You’re sexy as hell
My body reacts to his comment, my core pulsing.
Madelyn: Ditto *kiss emoji*
Canaan: I’ll see you later. We’ll have lunch or dinner or whatever you want as long as I see you
Madelyn: I’m all yours
Canaan: You bet your fine ass you are
Canaan: What’s the best thing about dating a firefighter?
Madelyn: He knows how to use his hose?
Canaan: *laughing emoji* That too. I was going to say we know how to extinguish fires the right way if you catch my drift, but using my hose is better. I’m adding that one to the book, too
Madelyn: You’re ridiculous. Have I already told you
Canaan: A few times, but you like me so I’ll take that as a compliment
Madelyn: Get rest. I want to see you later
Canaan: Yes ma’am *kiss emoji*
I send a kiss emoji back and pocket my phone, getting back on Dakota and continuing my ride. Conversations like this, as insignificant as they may seem to someone else, are the reason I’m falling for Canaan. Neither of us wears masks or hides who we truly are. It’s not often someone shows their true colors and accepts you for who you are. I cherish that part of Canaan. I cherish a lot of things, and with him, I’m realizing exactly what I want in a partner.
