Isleptasmuch as I could without wasting the entire day. I don’t want to be exhausted when I see Madelyn, but I’m feeling needy, which is not natural for me. If I could, I’d see her every day. I’m rolling with this new sensation, though, because I like her way too much. I love talking to her, seeing her laugh, and making her fall apart.

I get dressed and call her, hoping she’s free.

“Hello?” she answers.

“Hey,” I smile, then hear a commotion in the back.

“Hi.” She says something and then returns. “Did you rest?”

“Yeah, are you busy?” I frown.

“Not really. I was just hanging out with my brothers. They came over for lunch with Hallie, Camille, and Oliver.”

“That’s nice. Call me later then.”

“Why?” Her voice rises with confusion.

“Because you’re with your family. Go on and spend time with them.” I know how valuable family time is.

“We’re done with lunch and stuff. We were just out by the barn with Oliver. He was showing off his horse knowledge,” she giggles.

I smile at her happiness.

“Why don’t you come over?” Her question surprises me.

“Umm…” I pause. “Are you sure?”

Sweet laughter fills my ears. “Are you afraid of my family?” I hear mischief and challenge in her voice.

“You know I’m not.”

“Then come over. We can go for a ride.”

“On the horses?” A part of me hopes we’ll share one so I can feel her body pressed against mine.

“I have something else in mind. Wear comfy clothes, nothing too nice. Make sure it won’t be a problem if it gets dirty.” The way her voice emphasizes the word dirty stirs my body.

“Mads…” I warn, low and husky.

“Not that kinda dirty, perv,” she giggles. “Hurry over. I miss you.”

My stomach drops at her words. It’s the kind of feeling right before the fall on a rollercoaster, where it fills with nerves and excitement.

“I miss you, too, babe. You sure it’s okay with your parents?”

“Positive. We’re all hanging out. Besides, we won’t be in the house.”

Curious about what she’s planning, I promise I’ll be there soon and hang up. This woman’s got me all sorts of twisted up, wrapped around her finger. She smiles, and I’ll drop everything to stare at her.

I jump in my truck and make the drive out to the ranch. When I pull up, I see them all crowded near the barn, like Madelyn said. She looks over her shoulder in my direction. The smile that lights up her face when she sees me takes my breath away. Knowing the sight of me makes her this happy fills me with pride.

Wilder and Levi look my way right after and raise their eyebrows. They say something, but Madelyn slaps their shoulders and walks over to me. I take in her exposed legs, thanks to those jean shorts she loves wearing. She’s got a tank top on, tied at the waist. It doesn’t show her stomach, but if she lifts her arms, her skin will play peek-a-boo. My eyes travel further down, smiling when I see her boots. They’re a part of her.

“Hey,” I smile when I step out of my truck.

“You got here fast,” she arches a brow.
