Page 60 of Perfect Guy
“Nope.” She shakes her head. “I asked Wilder if I could borrow it. He knew you were coming, and I thought it’d be fun, but…you’re sitting behind me.” She points at me and then juts her thumb over her shoulder as she says that.
The look she gives me, a combination of heat and challenge, makes me want to strip her naked.
I step closer, hands falling to her waist. “Are you taking control?” I stare into her eyes.
“I am,” she nods and runs her hands up my chest. “Can you handle that?”
“Babe, I can handle that and more.” I’m not some kind of guy who can’t stand a strong woman. Hell, I encourage it. We’re equals, and her strength and independence don’t make me less of a man.
“Good.” She lifts on her toes and kisses me. She steps back right away, not giving me time to fully taste her sweet lips.
“I’m going to bring it out of the garage, and we’ll be on our way.” I step back, letting her do what she needs to.
Once the vehicle is out of the small space, she hands me a helmet. “Safety first.”
“I agree.” Seeing way too many accidents, I don’t care if I have to wear this. It’s better to wear it than regret it in the case something happens.
I leave my cap on a shelf in the garage and climb on after her. Holding her tight, Madelyn shivers and looks at me over her shoulder. I wink before dropping the visor to shield my eyes. She drops hers, faces forward, and slowly pulls out of the area and onto the open field. The wind brushes past us as she rides further away from the house.
We bounce on the uneven terrain as she picks up speed. It doesn’t take long to reach the river. Instead of stopping, she crosses over the shallow part, getting us both wet. Her laughter makes her body vibrate, and I squeeze her, wishing I didn’t have the helmet so that I could kiss the back of her neck. Her hair is in a low ponytail, and the glistening skin is luring me in.
We ride along the base of a mountain, trees lining one side. She starts riding up a trail around the mountain, each turn getting us to a higher elevation. The ride is slower now, more careful with the curves, and I can appreciate the beauty around us. We enter a part that’s covered in trees, creating a forested pathway.
As soon as we reach a landing, Madelyn veers to the right and parks the vehicle. Turning off the ignition, she removes her helmet, shaking her head and bringing her ponytail over her shoulder. I follow suit, removing the helmet and looking around.
We’re higher up, but not all the way to the top. The view in front of us is stunning. The mountains nearby, open fields, and small buildings. It might be the ranch, but I lost track of the direction we took.
I climb off the ATV and reach out my hand to help Madelyn. She smiles, and I wink. Keeping her hand in mine, we walk closer to the edge and take in the breathtaking view.
“I love coming up here.” A smile covers her face. I squeeze her hand.
“It’s beautiful.” I’d never be able to live in a city. The concrete jungle isn’t for me. I need space, nature, and outdoor adventures.
“It is,” she nods, turning to me. “You got a little wet.” She runs her hands down the sides of my shorts.
“It’ll dry quickly.” I turn, wrapping my arms around her. My lips descend on hers, and she parts for me immediately.
Our tongues tangle and dance to their own beat as our lips mesh together in a searing kiss. The sun overhead only adds to my heated body. My reaction to her is instant.
Madelyn slows the kiss, leaning back and smiling at me. “Come on.” She grabs my hand, placing her helmet on the seat. I do the same and follow her, curious about where we’re going.
We walk a short distance into a forested area. When the land opens up again, I see where she’s taking us.
“Cool,” I smile.
“Right?” We walk toward the cave.
“I love coming here.” Her face is bright with excitement.
We enter the cave, the light dim as we walk further in.
“It’s small, but you’ll see what’s really amazing about it.”
I follow closely behind her, keeping one of my hands on her waist. As cool as this is, I’m careful. Nature can be finicky, so my eyes roam each part of the cave to make sure we’re safe. It’s not very big, with huge rock formations covering most of it, making the path narrow. We squeeze by, and Madelyn tenses.
“Look,” she whispers.
Behind her is a smaller opening, like a window, and the view is spectacular. Mountains, greenery, and a river flowing through the middle.
