I couldn’t stop the laugh. “Decade, huh?”
She hit me in the stomach. “Teen hormones can’t be beat.”
She bounced back unlike anyone I knew. Far better than I did.
“We’ll see about that. That was over clothes. Just wait until I get you naked, Chaos.”
“Smug bastard.”
I curled my arm around her shoulders and dragged her close. “I think there’s a cheap cheeseburger with your name on it inside.”
“Oh my God, yes.”
“Don’t sound too excited.”
“I’m starving.”
“You ate a dozen tacos.”
“That was hours ago.” She wrapped her arm around my waist and we drunkenly hopped around puddles. It felt good to laugh.
To pretend for a little while that this was real.
