The ride to Kansas City is nothing special. We talk about my classes and what he is doing next semester for the school. It is exciting stuff. To be honest, it helps with passing the time. I am beyond excited for our mini excursion.
We pull up to the hotel in the Powerlight District of downtown KC. This place is covered with lights on top of lights. It’s where all the action happens in KC. The best dining is down here. The hotels are made for individuals like us wanting to connect more. I am stupid excited.
We check into the hotel and take our stuff up to our room. When we get to our room, the curtains are open, showing off the city skyline. The lights light up the entire room.
Sullivan states, “It’s beautiful, isn’t it?”
I answer, “I would say so.”
He comments, “Not as beautiful as you.”
Fucking butterflies again. Gah!!!
Sullivan asks, “You ready to get something to eat. There is a nice little restaurant down the street. From what I read, they have really good steak.”
I laugh, “You sold me on steak.”
He reaches for my hand and kisses it. The warm and fuzzy feeling is in full effect. Sullivan leads me out of our room and down the hall to the elevator. We make our way through the hotel and walk a few blocks to the restaurant.
The restaurant has a dark ambience to it. It’s fancy but not fancy, fancy. Both of us are wearing jeans. The hostess sits us at our table. I continue to look around. The restaurant has an intimate setting. I glance at Sullivan and smile. He grins back. This is perfect. We are finally out on an actual date, with no worries. No one knows us here. We are two lovers connecting outside the doors of our forbidden affair.
The waiter comes by our table and asks what we would like to drink. Sullivan leans in and asks me, “Do you care if I order us wine?”
I smirk, “Go for it.”
“Can we get the Cabernet Sauvignon?” asks Sullivan.
The waiter nods and off he goes.
I smile, “This was a really great idea.”
“I’m glad. I’ve been wanting to do this for some time. Just didn’t know when. This was completely spur of the moment.”
I laugh, “Well, it’s perfect.”
“So are you!”
Shyly, I say, “You’re being too sweet.”
He comments, “I wish we could do this more.”
“I know. Me too. Not until I graduate. Which seems like forever away.”
The waiter comes by with the wine and pours us both a glass.
Sullivan grabs his glass and raises it and says, “When that time comes, I am going to show you off all around town.”
I blush, “You’re funny.”
“It’s true.”
“Drink your wine, silly,” I state.
We take a sip of our wines while smiling at each other. My stomach starts to knot. What is going on here? I am happy and feeling good about this. He is really into me. I am really into him. Holy shit! Is this really happening? It can’t be.
Sullivan
After dinner, we go for a stroll around the district. The lights are beautiful as they shine on her face. It is something special to take her on an actual date. The dates at our homes are great but not the same. I want to show her off to the entire world. What started off as just sex has turned into something I wasn’t expecting. I want all of her. I hate that I can’t take her for day dates or evening adventures. So much for us to do together in Lincoln and we can’t. Her graduation seems so far away. But we will make it there. I know it, and then it will be smooth sailing. Our status at the school will not matter. We can be Lyla and Sullivan. I cannot wait for the day.
