Chapter 21

“When are you going to stop playing hot and heavy with that hunk of a doctor and open the damn gym already?”

Kelda was currently sitting in CC’s stylist chair, sunset orange hair dye in the process of tinting her locks a shade that Kelda told her, “looked just like the sun setting over Parker Lake.”

“It’s almost ready,” she replied.“We just have a few more things to do.”

If CC wanted to admit the truth, the gym had been ready a week ago when they finished the final coat of paint on the walls. She was just avoiding the inevitable. If they were finished with the gym, Brant’s nights would no longer be occupied. Therefore, he could begin to realize his time in Parker was about to come to an end and contemplate what he was going to do next. The thought of his choice was about to kill her.She was so scared of what he was going to say she hadn’t even broached the subject with him.

“Well, if you ask me it’s more than ready,” Kelda complained.

“How would you know, Kelda? You can’t see in the windows.”

“Imighthave peeked a look the other day when Barry was delivering those treadmills and you ran to Sadie’s to get a peach tea.”

“Kelda!You can’t do that!”

“Well, the door waswideopen for everyone to enter if they wanted to do so.”

“That’s because I propped it open for Barry so he didn’t have to try to open it himself and haul the big boxes of exercise equipment in!”

Kelda shrugged her shoulders.“How was I supposed to know that?I figured you might have been having an open house or something.I just didn’t want to miss out. Also, I thought I would need to check out the studio where I plan on having my class.Do you have a signup sheet yet for who is gonna teach what and what time?”

CC tried not to groan. The last thing she wanted was Kelda to teach Kamasutra to the elderly but she didn’t know how she was going to deny the old lady the class.Karen Posey wanted to teach a nightly yoga class on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and Wyatt’s kid sister, Holly, wanted to teach a Zumba class on Tuesdays and Thursdays.Mason Jones, who owned the marina on their side of the lake, wanted to have a Body Sculpting class. She had told them all yes.How could she deny Kelda her right to teach what she wanted?Even if the class Kelda desired to teach would give CC nightmares if she were to ever walk in on a session.

“What do you want to teach, Kelda?”she resignedly asked, already knowing the answer to the question.

“I want to teach a Kamasutra class for old folks,” she said.“Kinda like Barbara Streisand did onMeet the Fockers. That is one funny movie. She taught those old people some really awesome moves.I’ve been studying that movie every night. With that know-how and all me and Burt have been doing in the sack, I’m sure my class will be full in no time!”

“The only experience you have in teaching the class is watching a movie and from…well…”

“Sex with my man,” Kelda finished CC’s sentence.“He may be old, but he has somemoves.”

CC shuddered.“Have you read any books oranythingthat would make you fit to teach the class?”

Kelda waggled her eyebrows.“Where do you think we gotourmoves from?”

“Then I guess you can teach a class,” she sighed.“I have the calendar of classes on my phone.I’ll look at it this evening and let you know what slots we have available.”

Kelda pumped her wobbly arm in victory.“I have anotherveryimportant question.”

CC was almost afraid to ask.“What is it?”

“I’ve heard about these yoga sessions in big cities where they have goat and kitten yoga. That got me to thinking…you think I could bring my cats to participate?”

“No!”CC said vehemently.Kelda’s cats were the devil. The last thing she needed was for one of them to scratch a member on the ass…or in the eyeball…or on their private parts while Kelda was teaching them…well, whatever she was going to teach them.CC didn’t want to knowanydetails.

“No animals in the gym,” she added.“It would be bad for…people who have allergies.”She hoped Kelda bought her on-the-fly lie.

To her relief, Kelda nodded her head in agreement.“I can see where you’re coming from on that.It would not be good to have a participant sneeze while they were mid-thrust.They might break something and then sue you for all you’re worth.”

CC made a mental note to have everyone in Kelda’s class signvery specificcontractual agreements.“All right, Kelda.I think we’re ready to rinse this dye out.Want to see how closely you resemble a sunset?”

“I sure do.I was lost without you that week you were closed, girly. My green with red tips you did in May to celebrate Cinco de Mayo was faded so bad I looked like the cheap, crappy Easter dye that only dyes the eggshell a pastel color. It was awful, I tell ya.”

“But the important thing is you survived.”

“Barely.Hey, I forgot to ask you.Did you know Griff knocked up Breckin?”
