“What?How have you lived in Parker for almost three years and not gone to Sophie’s Haven?”
“Well, partly because it hasn’t been built the entire time.”
CC waved her hands.“Not important.We aredefinitelygoing on Sunday.They just got elephants and the baby is the cutest thing in the entire world.”
“Why not Saturday?”
“Because it’s the busiest day of the week, especially now that summer is here and we have all the lake-goers frequenting all the businesses in town.They’ll take a day off from swimming and skiing to come and visit Sophie’s Haven with their families.And it’s closed to the public on Sundays.”
“Will Annie let us come if it’s closed?”
CC looked at him.“Seriously?She’s mybestfriend.Of course, she’ll let us come.I’m insulted you think otherwise.”
Brant laughed.“I stand corrected.”
“I can’t believe you’ve never been.It’s an awesome place.Annie finally started having people sign a book when they come because they’ve gotten so many visitors from all over.”
“Really?Where is the farthest person from so far?”
“England.”
Brant’s eyes widened in surprise.“England?Really?”
“Yep.They were visiting a relative or something in Oklahoma City and drove all the way down to come.Said they saw it on the website and had to see for themselves if it was as cool a place as it looked.”
“Well?Were they happy when they left?”
“They said it would be worth the trip to America again.”
“That’s awesome.”
CC nodded enthusiastically.“It is.”
“So Sunday?What time do you want me to pick you up?”
“You could just stay the night if you wanted.Save time and all.I like to sleep in.”
Brant’s eyebrows raised.“You sure you’re good with that?”
“Why would I ask if I wasn’t?”
“You were just freaked out about the old people talking about you.I didn’t want to press my luck.”
“I remembered you quoting Bonnie Raitt earlier and it gave me insight.Besides, last time you were at my house we never watched an episode ofStranger Things.”
“Freckles, if I stay the night at your house I’m pretty sure we’re going to be too preoccupied doing other things than watching our favorite television show.”
CC grinned at him, mischief written all over her face.“Good thing it’s on Netflix and we can watch it any time we want.”
