I nodded. “Even though it’s October, it was like eighty today.”
“Just wait.” He smiled. “The night temps are cold and have already lowered the lake temps. Guaranteed.”
“Are you a pansy?” I teased, standing up.
“Never,” Cash growled.
I shook my hips a little and let out a little moan before saying anything else. Heat roared through his gaze as he stood up.
Taking a couple of steps back, I pulled off my sweatshirt and kicked off my shorts.
“What are you doing?” he asked, coming closer.
I tugged on my pink camisole so it went over my hips and covered my cotton underwear.
I smiled at him and winked. “I’m too lazy to get my swimsuit. Think this will work?’
Cash brought me into his arms and kissed the crook of my neck softly. “It will work if I don’t pull it off you first.”
“I dare you.” I narrowed my eyes to his and escaped his clutches, starting toward the door.
“Ope. The doctor’s orders are to keep it slow,” Cash called after me.
“Doctor, Schmoctor,” I yelled as Chewie jumped up and down.
I’d made it outside and left Cash in the dust to shoo Chewie from the door and close it. I had a huge head start, but within seconds, he was next to me.
Cash picked me up and threw me over his shoulder as I swatted his rear. He was still fully clothed and ran into the frigid lake with me.
I shrieked as the cold spiked into my bones, but I couldn’t help laughing.
I couldn’t help but love Cash Knox a little more.
He dropped me into the water and pulled me into him.
Cash swept his mouth over mine, and I laughed into his lips, feeling like I could take on whatever the world had to throw my way.
He pressed his mouth against mine and parted his lips as I let out a happy moan. His tongue fearlessly swept through my lips, tasting me as he gripped my hips with his hands. I felt his erection grow hard as our frenzied kisses created a heat that made me forget we were in the lake.
Cash parted his lips from mine, and he held me close.
“You’re shaking,” he said. “It’s time to get inside.”
I looked into his eyes, begging for more.
He obliged and picked me up, carrying me out of the lake as my arms stayed looped around his neck.
“You’re my perfect Thor,” I whispered as he let out a soft growl of approval, and I think...
a quietI love you.
Chapter Thirty
Cash
I promised Maya that I wouldn’t lie to her again, and I technically hadn’t. I needed to pick up some items at a big box store for my new rental, and it was cheaper and easier to just go down and haul everything up than to try to get them to deliver.
Letting out a sigh, I climbed out of the truck to see the gently rolling hills of Sunset Perch. I’d always hated the name, but the place had the best views. I swallowed the familiar tightness that threatened to suffocate me, but this time, it was different. This time, I felt like I needed something more than to kneel and pray.
