“That one seems much more obvious than mine was. She just needs to be more open. Not turn things down or back out as soon as she feels uncomfortable about it.”

“Good Emmett. Great point. Amelia, if the two of you could exchange numbers, I’d appreciate it. If you do in fact need special accommodation because you live so far away, I’ll allow it. Though the intent is to meet somewhere in the beginning of the week to be able to reinforce and observe changed behavior.”

Henry walked away to coach another pair, leaving us to our own devices.

“Is there a particular day or time that works better for you?” I asked, trying to think of ways to ask questions without making me seem accommodating.

“What’s your number?” she asked, her phone at the ready.

“Three zero five seven seven four nine”

“Great. Look I need to head out before the snow gets any worse. I’ll text you when I get home tonight, and we can figure out a plan.”

I was just the slightest bit disappointed that she didn’t want to stay and hang out. The resort was fixin’ to get all fancy for the big tree lighting festival, and I was sure we’d have plenty to keep us busy. But it is what it is. With the snow you never knew if the system would be just a glancing blow that set down a handful of flurries or if the air was damp enough to turn the storm into a super blizzard.
