His giggles have me joining in as he starts drying himself off. I foresee laundry in my future since literally every towel they own is now on the floor in a vain attempt to clean up our epic sea battle. “But it was a lot of fun,” he finally says.

“Yeah, it was, Noah. But maybe we should hold off on using the tub next time and play like that in the pool, what do you think?” I suggest, thinking that would be for the best.

He sagely nods before replying, “That’s probably a good idea. Mommy hates doing laundry so even though she was laughing, if we did it all the time, she’d probably get upset.”

Once I have the floor mopped up as good as it’s going to get for now, I pick Noah up, cautiously maneuver us out of the bathroom and head into his bedroom where I notice Kaya’s already been since he has a clean set of pajamas laid out and waiting for him to slip on. “She might or she might not, but we don’t want to make extra work for anybody, so I think we’ll behave from now on.”

“If you think we should,” he says, still snickering. I quickly help him get dressed then put his braces on before I slip him under his covers which Kaya already had pulled down as well. “Do I have to take that medicine tonight?”

I glance at him and ask, “Are you hurting, buddy? Because that’s what it’s used for, if you’re in pain. If you’re not, then you don’t have to take it, but you did a lot today.”

“I’m okay, Mr. Specks, I promise,” he earnestly replies.

“If you’re sure then I won’t get one for you from your mom. Now, where were we in your story?”

He settles in and I head back into the crazy cat-filled world he seems to like best. The voices I come up with have him laughing out loud, especially with one of the cats, who is super dramatic in everything he does. Once the book is finished, I tousle his hair and lean in to whisper, “Good night, little man. Sleep tight.”

Without missing a beat, he murmurs, “And don’t let the bedbugs bite. If they do, pick up your shoe and knock them cuckoo.”

I’m still chuckling as I leave his room, the door ajar in case he needs to call out for one of us throughout the night. Going over to Kaya’s, I see hers is cracked so I stick my head in to see her propped up reading. “Gonna run to my room and grab a few things. Do you need anything while I’m out?”

“Um, no, I should be good. I usually just have a bottle of water on my nightstand in case I wake up parched. Did he give you any problems?” she asks.

“Not at all. I’m going to toss the wet towels in the wash really quick.”

“Oh! I didn’t even think of the laundry. Heck, I don’t have a connection in here either, do I?”

“Babe, it’s all good. We’ve got a huge-ass commercial grade laundry room with enough washer and dryer sets that each of us has our own. I’ll get them going and switch them out in themorning, but will grab a few towels from my suite so we have them for tomorrow, okay?”

She smiles while nodding. “Sounds good. Thank you.”

“You’re welcome. I’ll be back shortly, babe.”

Grabbing all the wet towels, as well as Noah’s swimsuit, I head to the laundry room, making a mental note to show Kaya where it’s at so she’s able to wash clothes whenever she needs to do so. I’m sure Noah goes through plenty of clothes, although he might not right now because he’s not able to run around and soil his clothes with dirt like most kids his age. Once the washers have been loaded and are going, I head to my suite, take a quick shower to wash off the chlorine, then change into lounging pants and a clean T-shirt before I pack my other essentials into a duffel bag. Looking around, I mentally calculate what I need to transfer over to their suite of rooms then decide it can wait for a few days. We’re in no hurry and it’s easy to get to something of mine if I need it after all.

Right now, I want to be with them, my new little family. After I return, I lock up for the night, although no one would dare breach the door without knocking and getting permission to enter first, then set my hygiene kit up in the bathroom before brushing my teeth and combing my hair. With my duffel bag in hand, I open the door to my new resting place, finding Kaya in exactly the same spot where she was when I left her. “That didn’t take too long,” she says as she greets me. I watch her put her e-reader down on the nightstand, double-check her alarm is set on her phone, then turn her bedside lamp off. Thankfully, she had already turned the other one on since I’m unfamiliar with the layout and have no desire to crash into any furniture or hell, even the fucking wall.

“Learned a long time ago to do things as expeditiously as possible,” I reply, sliding in between the crisp, clean sheets. I turn the light on my nightstand off, plunging the room into pitch darkness since she has the blinds and curtains drawn closed. Turning on my side, I reach my hand out toward where she was, coming into contact with her shoulder.

Lifting my hand until it’s cupping her jaw, I quietly say, “Hey, babe.”

Her small hand grips my wrist, and I can feel her pulse accelerate as she moves closer to me. “Hi, Specks,” she whispers.

“You good with me kissing you good night?”

“I was hoping you’d want to,” she admits as my lips find hers.

I lose all sense of time as we kiss, too focused on branding her taste and touch into my memory banks to care whether or not I’m able to breathe. I don’t pull away until my lungs are screaming for life-giving oxygen, which I suck in the air at a rapid rate, glad to hear she’s just as affected as I am and is doing the same. As hard as my cock is right now, I know I could pound nails, but I promised her we’d go at her pace, so I will it to go down. Sadly, he’s not cooperating, but I suspect he’s always going to be hard as steel whenever she’s near me. I can feel her pebbled nipples pressed against my chest, and she’s unconsciously moving against my hard length.

“I’m always gonna want to kiss you, Kaya,” I tell her, my voice husky and raspy with need. At her small mewl, I lightly nip her jaw then with a smirk she can’t see, continue. “All over.”

“Oh my,” she breathes out, her tune all but purring. “I’m not sure what to say right now because well, I mean...”

Her stammers are cute as fuck and I chuckle, understanding almost instinctively that she’s feeling submerged into a foggy swamp of emotions right now.

“It’s okay, babe. Not trying to overwhelm you.” Ah, but I am, at least a little bit. I think Kaya, despite being married before and having a child, is relatively close to being an innocent when all’s said and done. At least, her reactions to me indicate that fact. “Let’s get some rest. Noah’s got a big day ahead of him tomorrow, and so do you since you’re going back to work after a hectic few days away.”

“Yeah,” she sighs. “Good night, Specks.”
