I can feel my pussy clench down on his shaft as my back arches. “Specks,” I hiss out before shooting into the stratosphere. As Iride out my release, I feel him swell then lowly cry out when he orgasms, his hot seed filling me up.

Once we’ve caught our breath again, he turns me and grins down at me. “Good thing we’re not home because we still have hot water.” Giggling, I stand there as he soaps up the sponge and cleans the two of us up again.

“I love you,” I tell him as we finish drying off and slip on the night clothes we bought earlier.

“I love you too, my warrior queen,” he replies, leaning in to kiss me. “Not sure who I’m prouder of, you or our boy, for how brave you both were today. You’re the perfect old lady for me, Kaya, in every way possible, and today completely epitomized and validated that fact. Now, let’s get some shut-eye because we promised our boy pancakes for breakfast, and I’ve noticed he tends to wake up early when those are on the menu.”

Taking my hand, he leads me back to our bed and tucks me in before he rechecks the room and Noah. Once he’s next to me, I curl into him and kiss his jaw. “I’ll never forget how you and your brothers saved Noah.”

“I’d burn the fucking world down to find either one of you,” he confesses. “Kinda glad the cops were there because I had murder on my mind, not gonna lie.”

“Since I don’t fancy conjugal visits if they even allow those, I’m glad they were too. Good night, honey.”

He’s still chuckling at my comment about jailhouse sex as he lightly kisses me before saying, “Good night, babe.”

Granny’s waiting at the doorway when we arrive back at the clubhouse. For the first time in my life, she looks old, as though everything that happened aged her overnight. “Granny, I had an adventure!” Noah calls out to her as Specks carries him inside. His wheelchair was part of a crime scene, so Poseidon told us he’d get another one and have it waiting for us.

As we make our way to the couches, I notice everyone is there. Once Noah is in his new wheelchair, Colette quickly crawls over andTridentlifts her up onto his lap, securely buckling her in. I make huge eyes at Gia, who grins at me. Granny sits next to Noah and says, “Noah Reed Mabry, I think you had more than an adventure, young man.”

“Granny, Mommy and Daddy said I was very brave because I was able to tell them where I was,” Noah replies. Lowering his voice, he leans toward her and admits, “But I was kind of scared and I even cried.”

“Well, I don’t think being scared or crying means you weren’t brave,” Granny tells him. “Now, I know you guys had pancakes for breakfast already, but what do you want for lunch?”

“Chicken nuggets and chocolate milk!” he exclaims, causing me to roll my eyes as everyone else laughs. It’s his go-to, comfort meal and I swear he’d eat it all day every day if he was allowed to.

“I think we can handle that for you kids, but the grown-ups will have a few other choices,” Granny announces. “Kaya, can you give me a hand?”

Nodding, I stand and follow her into the kitchen where she grabs me and pulls me into a back-breaking hug. “Granny, I was so scared yesterday. I’m sorry I didn’t reach out until last night.” Before Noah fell asleep, we FaceTimed her so he could tell her good night, but during the actual events of the day, reaching out to her was the furthest thing from my mind.

“Child, your focus was where it was supposed to be, on that little monkey we both love to pieces. I had plenty to keep me occupied because while the men were out looking, all the women were here with the little ones.”

“But still, I feel horrible,” I tell her.

“Nonsense. He’s safe and at home, I’m no worse for the wear, and we’ve got lunch to get ready.” Her no-nonsense tone helps center me, just like she intended for it to do. “I just needed a hug from my best girl before we got started. And did I hear Noah calling Specks daddy?”

As we work side-by-side, I fill her in on everything that happened, including how Noah began calling Specks his daddy. “He told me last night it’s because daddies protect their kids, and Specks helped find him so that means he’s his daddy now.”

Granny laughs while shaking her head. “He’s something else, that boy is. He reminds me a lot of his daddy when he was a little boy.”

Tears well up when she mentions Foster. “I think he’d be so disappointed in his parents, Granny. I can’t believe they thought it would work out well for them when they took Noah. Do you know how Canyon and Chelsea are doing?”

“Canyon was treated and released but they had to keep Chelsea because her scans showed a slight brain bleed from where her head was smashed against the wall.”

My heart plummets hearing the news. “Oh no. Will she be okay?” I manage to whisper through the emotion now clogging my throat.

“They’re monitoring her but may need to do surgery if the swelling doesn’t stop. That young man hasn’t left the hospital either. He told Poseidon when he called him that he felt responsible for her getting hurt. Like he could’ve known there was another door, which is what Poseidon told him.”

“I’ll ask the other old ladies what we can do to help both of them. I think he’s sweet on Chelsea, even though he’s never said a word.”

“I suspect you’re right. I may be old, but I’ve still got eyes and he watches her whenever he’s around. Plus, he made sure it was him who went with Noah and Chelsea on the field trip. I think Poseidon was going to send Asa.”

A small giggle escapes at her pronouncement. “How do you know all of this stuff, Granny?”

“No one pays attention to what I’m doing or where I’m at when they’re talking, child.” She grins mischievously at me before continuing. “Now, go let everyone know lunch is ready. It’s time to celebrate.”

Specks

Despite the fact everything seems to be okay with Noah, I keep a close eye on him until Poseidon lets all of us know we’re havingan emergency church meeting. Kissing Kaya quickly, I follow the rest of my brothers into our sacrosanct room then wait to hear what’s on Poseidon’s mind.
