I smirk. “You thought that you were clever. Avoiding cameras and keeping your head down, but I guess you were just as much a pendejo then than what you are now.”

I plunge the blade into his tight, twisting it when it’s fully embedded into his leg.

His whole body shakes and he tries to dislodge himself from the chair to pull out the knife.

“You didn’t cover all your tracks, Castro. I was able to find you. And now I’m going to fucking make you pay from what you did to my own blood, by taking some of yours.”

Stab after stab.

Scream after scream.

I take out all the anger, all the frustration and all the sorrow that I’ve had boiling in me for four long ass years out on this man.

His thigh will probably not look the same after this, but I don’t give a shit.

This man took something from me and it’s about time that I get reparation for what he did.

“Santiago!”

The loud male voice sounds through the room, even above the screams that are coming from the bastard in front of me, I was able to hear it.

I don’t need to turn to know who it is.

Looks like the king has come down to see my handy work.

Dropping the knife, I turn to face Ronaldo, who is standing by the entrance of the room, looking as poised as ever. Who knew that a cartel drug lord could look so put together.

I guess when you are the most feared man in all of Mexico and you have two United States federal agencies after your ass, you can look however you want.

“Come to take a stab for yourself?” I wave over to the chair, all puns fucking intended.

“No,” He looks around me to Emilio, a look of indifference still on his face. “I came down here to tell you to release him. He’s had enough.”

Adrenaline must still be pumping through my skull because I’m pretty sure that Ronaldo just told me to stop torturing Emilio. The man that just kidnapped his daughter-in-law and was going to kill her.

Surely that can’t be right.

“¿Quieres que pare?”

If he wants me to stop, I will but there better be a good fucking excuse behind it.

Ronaldo gives me a curt nod. “Si. My daughter deserves a wedding where her husband is able to walk her back down the aisle after the ceremony.”

You got to be fucking kidding me.

“He went after Serena.” I say through my teeth. I’m about to tell him he also killed my father, but I keep that to myself.

“And from what I heard, Serena is still alive. Ahora. Dejalo ir.”

Let him go.

Just like that.

I look at the man before me and try to figure out how he became this way. How did he become a man so power hungry that he doesn’t care that someone went after a member of his family?

But like the good soldier that I am, I listen when I’m given orders.

I turn back to Emilio and start cutting off his restraints.
