Nobody messes with me and gets away with it. Even more so if it happens in my own house.

You will pay for every one of your actions.

Those words brought a shiver down my spine when I heard them, and they still do four days later.

Dante knows that I’m here for a reason, and when he finds out what that reason is, I will possibly be in the gravesite next to my parents.

Maybe I won’t even make it that far.

Maybe my body will be cut up into tiny pieces and scattered in his massive backyard never to be found.

If I’m lucky, it would be the former because then I would be back with the two people that loved me the most.

But until that day comes, I will continue to do what I’ve been doing these last four days and that’s take care of the man’s kids.

Which I’m great at if you ask me.

I may not have become a teacher but I’m great with kids and I like spending time with them, so that’s making this job a breeze.

It also helps that Angel and Alessandra have been okay with having me around, if the way their eyes brighten when they look at me is any indication.

In the very short amount of time that I have spent with them, I’ve come to know that both kids are vastly different.

Angel, though he’s only nine months old, is very happy and giggly and loves anything that has wheels. He has the same eyes as his sisters and every time he looks at me when I feed him, I get lost in his gaze. I never knew a baby could be so hypnotic with his gaze. His little babbles of words bring a smile to my face every time that I hear them. I spend most of my day with him, so I feel like we’ve developed a bond of some sorts and it’s only been a few days. Angel, in a way, has accepted me, but he’s a baby, I’m sure he would have accepted anyone that showed him love and affection.

Alessandra on the other hand, is vastly different from her little brother.

When I first laid eyes on the little girl in her father’s arms, she left me speechless. She’s a beautiful little girl, with big blueish gray eyes that are a complete contrast to her dark hair and olive complexion. Her eyes captivated my attention first and then it was the scar that went from the edge of her hairline to the tip of her jaw.

The scar, even healed, looks nasty but it doesn’t take away from the little girl’s beauty, it only adds to it.

As much as I wanted to gasp in shock when I first saw it, I didn’t, and I think that’s what helped me gain Alessandra’s trust a bit.

I showed her kindness and warmth and for that little bit she trusted me to help with her hair and get her dressed. But I didn’t get a smile from her. I’ve tried though. Every chance I been with her these last three days, I’ve tried to make her smile and laugh or even to say a small word, all to no avail. All I’ve able to get from her has been curious glances.

Like she wonders why I’m here.

She doesn't hate me, I know that much so that’s a good sign.

And hopefully it stays that way, especially now since today I’m finally picking up Alessandra from school and not her dad.

Never did I think that getting approval to pick up a kid from school would be such a chore but of course, the mob boss made it one.

I have yet to earn his trust. Sure, I’m here picking up Alessandra but I’m only here because Dante had some pressing business to take care of.

At least, that’s what Evelyn told me when she asked for me to come here. I don’t even think that Dante knows that I’m here, but I don’t give a shit.

He’s taking care of “pressing business” which most likely means that he’s off killing someone, so he doesn’t have a say.

Looking at the time on my phone, I see that it’s almost time for me to go grab Alessandra.

I open the back door to the black SUV that Evelyn said was at my disposal, but said SUV comes with two arms guards that both turn when I open the door.

My hand freezes on the handle when they do. I feel like I’m a kid again and got caught doing something bad.

“I’m just going to go in and grab Alessandra.” I say, my voice going up an octave.
