“Yes, yes.” She patted his back. “Did I miss much?”
I wrapped my arms around Georgia and gazed deep into her eyes. “Oh, a little bit, but we’ll catch you up.”
EPILOGUE
SIX MONTHS LATER: GEORGIA
“And this is my desk.” I waved my hand like a tour guide.
Maddie and Juliana made a big scene of oohing and aahing.
“It’s so shiny.” Juliana ran her hand over the desk’s corner.
“Thanks. I polish it.”
“Really?”
“No,” I laughed. “But maybe the cleaning crew goes the extra mile?”
Maddie looked out the windows. “This view is amazing.” She turned to me. “How is it every view in your life is amazing? Your house, your office… I swear, you have the best views in all of Rio.”
I shrugged and turned my palms upward. “I’m very lucky.”
Honestly, that had to be it. Yes, I’d worked hard and been as honest as possible my whole life. So had lots of people, though.
There really wasn’t a proper explanation for why things had turned out so well for me. Not only did I live full-time in my favorite place in the world, I had a great job, an amazing boyfriend, and an awesome kid in my life.
Honestly, there was nothing else I wanted for.
Well… except one thing, but hopefully that was coming soon, and I didn’t want to jinx it by talking or thinking about it too much.
“When will Rodrigo be proposing?” Juliana reclined in the easy chair.
I gasped. “I don’t know.”
Maddie laughed. “But you think about it all the time.”
My cheeks burned. “A… little bit.”
Okay, fine. By a little bit, I meant a lot. But who could blame me? Rodrigo was the biggest catch in the world. Of course I wanted to make things official!
“You’ve been dating over six months.” Juliana raised her perfectly arched eyebrows. “I say that it’s time.”
“It’s actually six months today.” I leaned against my desk to face her.
“Then it’s the perfect time.”
I shrugged. “I don’t know about that. We’re going out to dinner tonight, but it’s nothing special.”
Maddie strolled around my desk. “It will happen when it happens… if it happens.”
That made my chest tighten. I didn’t want to get ahead of myself, but Rodrigo and I were obviously made for each other. In spirit, I felt like he was my husband and I was his wife. We just needed to make things official.
Plus, I loved living with and taking care of Sebastián. The only downside was the constant reminder that I’d missed the first ten years of his life. Having someone to care for and getting to see the world through a child’s eyes brought me immense joy.
I wanted more kids, and if that was to happen, Rodrigo and I needed to get moving.
“I’m happy with things the way they are,” I said.
