With a tired laugh, she says, “Oh, you’ll probably hear it plenty over the next couple days.”
Her words make me sigh. She’s always had a complex about having to make up for herself. Cora has never seen herself as enough, and she’s constantly apologizing for herself and every little mistake she makes.
You don’t have to do that with us, Moonflower.
“I should probably let you read the entries, too,” Cora says to me.
“Only if you want.”
“I think it’d be a good idea. Not tonight, though.”
My hand trails across her shoulders. “Of course. You tired?”
She nods. “Exhausted.”
With a quick glance to Wilder, I ask, “Are we good? The three of us?”
“I’m good if you’re good,” Wilder replies.
Cora nods, looking at me questioningly.
Am I pissed at Wilder? Some, yeah. He could’ve told me everything on the drive here. But if I’m being honest, I’m glad he didn’t. I don’t think I would’ve had the guts to follow through with his plan if I’d known about her secret confession. So I smile at them both.
“I’m good.”
“You guys are sleeping in my bed, right?”
“Nonnegotiable,” Wilder says, kissing her lightly.
In Cora’s room, she groans. “We should change the sheets.”
“I got them earlier.” Wilder nudges her toward the bed. “Don’t worry about it.”
She narrows her eyes. “Actually, on that note, did you clean my bathroom?”
A slow grin spreads over his face. “Made Matt do it.”
Her jaw drops. Then she mutters, “Damn.”
I take the side of the bed that’s pressed up against the wall. I’m right below all the pictures of us she has stuck to her wall, and it makes me smile. Even when she was avoiding us, she couldn’t bear to take them down.
It’s a little tight having all three of us in Cora’s bed, but I love the feeling of her soft, supple body pressed against mine. I run my hand over her curves as Wilder stands beside the bed, staring at us.
“What?” I ask.
He grins. “Reminds me of the sleepovers we had as kids. Before our parents stopped letting Cora join.”
Snickering, I pull Cora closer to me. “Now look at us.”
“Do you think they’ll approve?” Cora asks. “Of us?”
As Wilder climbs into bed, he says, “Doesn’t matter if they do. You’re ours, Moonflower. And we’re yours. Whether they approve or not doesn’t change that.”
“I know. I just want them to.”
“Honestly? I wouldn’t be surprised if they’ve been expecting it,” Wilder replies. “Regardless, now isn’t the time to worry about it. You need to sleep.”
With a sigh, she settles in between us. We both wrap our arms around her, holding her close. And then we fall asleep, finally together and happy again.
