“That was always one of your biggest problems… pussy,” I growled. “Never could keep you head on straight. She used you like the limp-dick you are. What you did to me was to be expected, but when Shura made Arianna sink to her knees and was going to force her to suck him off, you just stood there.”
The men around me shifted and murmured murderous promises.
“I did! I tried to get him to stop him!”
“By asking to kill me quickly and drag Arianna away to live a miserable existence at the hands of a sick bastard,” I seethed. “You willingly put my wife in that position, and all your little fuck toy had to do was say she was enjoying herself for you to clamp you mouth shut. Not to mention you had your men murder my mother.”
He didn’t have anything to say to that. Nico’s bottom lip started to wobble.
“So. Since you like a show, both fucking and killing, I thought I would make you the center of ours.”
He swallowed hard while his shoulders started to shake.
“My first idea was to find someone willing to bend you over a table and show you what you were willing to put Arianna through.”
Nico’s eyes blew up with fear.
“But that’s too fucked up, even for me.”
I stepped forward, kneeling down in front of him. Then I pulled my knife from the swell of my back and held it up to the crouch of his pants. He jumped and pushed back in the chair with a gasp.
“Then I thought about cutting your balls off, followed by your dick and your tongue. The two things that always got you in the most trouble.”
“Fuck. Matteo. Fuck. I’m sorry!” Nico yelled, bouncing in his chair.
“It was too late for sorry the second it crossed your mind to betray me.” I pressed the tip of my knife to the crotch of his pants and swiped up, slicing through the fabric.
“Ah!” Nico screamed, thinking I’d just castrated him.
“You had my mother killed,” I growled. “My wife kidnapped. You put my unborn child in the hands of a bastard with ill intent. You deserve the longest most painful death I can imagine.” Nico’s whole body shook. He’d seen me many times delve out pain for hours. “I planned to take my time, to make you bleed and scream and beg. But now I find myself not willing to waist a single moment of my life on you.”
Nico opened his mouth to say something but it died on his tongue as I stood and plunged the knife up through his jaw and into his brain. His eyes widened for a fraction of a second as his blood trickled down my hand. I watched the light leave his eyes and held the knife in place until the last flicker dissipated.
Pulling the knife free I turned away and handed it to Vinny, not sparing Nico’s dead body another glance. I gave him more than he deserved by making it quick. Steven handed me a towel to clean my hand. All my men watched me with steely eyes.
“That was faster than I expected,” someone commented.
I knew they were expecting more and almost felt bad about not giving it to them, but it was too late now. Nico wasn’t worth the dirt under my shoe let alone the precious time it would take to deliver that kind of revenge. I wanted to get it over with and move on, because little did everyone know that would be one of my last acts as Boss.
“Call everyone to my office. All the men Vinny, no matter where they are.”
“What’s going on, Matteo?” Steven asked.
“I have an announcement.”

ARIANNA
Soft waves washed ashore causing bubbles to form on the sand at my feet. The sun hung high and warm above my head, reflecting off the blue-green water of the cove. White sand surrounded me in bright light as the dull cliffs on either side of the small, private beach stretched out into the sea.
The home that Becka and Luca found in Spain was one of the most beautiful I’d ever seen. It wasn’t large and certainly not a statement piece, but lavish and perfectly sized for raising a small family. The small town where they got supplies regularly wasn’t more than a ten minute drive, but with the area surrounding the home you could pretend no one was around for a hundred miles.
Everything about the area was soothing and warm. A person could get lost in the sense of peace it blanketed your soul with.
Except for mine.
I’d been sitting in the same spot on the beach for over a week, staring out into the Mediterranean as if it held all the answers to the questions I couldn’t answer myself. Thinking that if I tried hard enough I could make Matteo appear out of the magical waters with my desperation alone.
