“Not really,” I reply. “But I will take a beer if you have any.”
“Here you go.” Mancuso hands over an ice-cold beer.
He hasn’t opened it yet, and instead of asking for an opener, I use the ring on my right hand to do it. When I look up, all the men are staring at me. Guilia bursts out laughing.
“Close your mouths, you’re going to catch flies.” She winks at me. “Excuse them. They are used to mafia princesses, not real women.”
“Real women?” I ask.
“Yes, dear. The kind that drinks beer, shoots pool, changes their tires, and can probably kick ass when called on.”
“And you think that’s me?” I laugh loudly.
“I know that’s you. You are exactly the opposite of me and Andrea.” She smiles.
Chapter Ten
Severu
I have been avoiding the house for the last week. I sleep there, but I leave early in the morning and return late at night, hoping to avoid any type of conversion or questions about why I hired a live-in nanny we don’t need. I am also actively avoiding Lira. I don’t know how to deal with the fact that I’m insanely attracted to her, much less the fact that she seems to feel the same way.
But I need to be there today or Guilia will get in her car and find me. And then I will be dragged home by the ear. It is family day, after all, and none of us are exempt from being there.
Which is why I have been sitting in my car for the last ten minutes, staring up at my own damn house. Lira will be out by the pool with the rest of them, enjoying this beautiful sunny day, and I need to shore up my defenses before I join them.
Taking one last steeling breath, I exit my car and make my way around the house to the backyard. I hear talking and a women’s laughter. I have never heard her laugh before, but I instinctively know the husky sound that spears straight to my cock belongs to Lira. As I round the house and the group of people I call my family comes into view, I know that isn’t going to end well.
Lira, Guilia, and Andrea are playing in the pool with Jennifer as my brothers stand by the barbeque, getting lunch ready. I watch Lira as she laughs at Jennifer splashing in the water. Her large, full breasts sway in the black bikini she is wearing. I contemplate turning around but decide to just jump in headfirst.
“He lives,” Alceu calls out when he sees me. “I thought my dearest brother had moved out or found a woman he likes more than his own family.”
I can’t help but look at Lira when he says this, but she has turned her back on me and is headed to the pool steps.
“Fuck off, Alceu,” I say in return. “I actually work for a living. Instead of sitting in my office all day drinking coffee and handing out orders like some people.”
“Testy much? “Mancuso quips.
But I’m not focused on him. Instead, I’m watching Lira get out of the pool. Water runs in rivulets down her back to her plump ass and then down her shapely legs. Fuck me, this is going to be one hell of a day.

We sit around a wooden outdoor table, laughing and jesting. We eat and chat and just enjoy each other’s company. Lira slides into our weird little family with little to no effort at all. It’s like she has always been there. I keep giving myself reasons why I can’t pursue my attraction to her, but it’s getting harder and harder.
“I want to go to the gun range on Tuesday.” Guilia looks at me expectantly.
“Sorry, no can do. We have a meeting on Tuesday.” I look over at Alceu to confirm that he remembers.
“Shit, I completely forgot,” he replies.
“Do all of you have to be there?” she asks.
All four of us nod in unison. It’s never easy to say no to Guilia. She looks like someone just kicked her puppy. If this meeting wasn’t so important, I would say fuck it. But this is the meeting I arranged with Beast and his MC in return for that personal favor, so I need to push through.
“I can go with you,” Lira says.
Guilia’s eyes sparkle as she faces Lira. “Really? Do you know how to shoot?”
“Of course I do.”
