School? She looks like she’s only a few years younger than us so she must have gone back. “What are you going to school for?”

“Education. I took a gap year, which turned into five gap years,” she explains with an eye roll. “It’s a long story and mistake. But I’m almost done, working here full time and going to school part time so it’s taking me longer than it would have. I’m basically an old lady on campus,” she adds with a chuckle.

“I think it’s so cool that you are going, though. That couldn’t have been easy, working a full schedule along with school filled with a bunch of teenagers. What are you wanting to teach?”

“You’ll think I’m crazy but middle school and freshmen-level Language Arts. Apparently I don’t mind teenagers.”

“Yay! I love a good English teacher.”

Corbin nudges me. “You would.”

“Hey! Don’t hate on me. I’m a book nerd and proud of it.”

“Same, girl, same,” Paisley adds with a wide grin.

“Also, I’m a romance author,” I explain.

“No way.” Her eyes widen. “What’s your name?”

“Naomi Newman.”

“I’m totally going to check you out.”

“Definitely. I hope you love them if you do.”

“It was super nice meeting you, Paisley. We’ll see you later?”

“I’ll be here. Just call down if you need anything. And if you order from Big Daddy’s, tell them I sent you. I used to waitress there and they still give me a discount. They’ll pass it to you if you tell them I’m your friend.”

“Okay, you’re officially our new bestie.”

Corbin waves as we walk toward the elevators with our suitcases rolling behind us.

If we thought the lobby was beautiful, the rooms are just as much so. I flop onto one of the beds, arms and legs spread wide. “Amazing.”

Corbin follows, doing the same on the other bed. “Totally.”

“I’m so glad you thought of this.”

“I’m so glad I did, too. And especially that my brother’s paying.”

I turn over, leaning up on one elbow with my hand to my cheek. “Why, though? This is alot.He shouldn’t do that.”

She rolls over to face me. “He wanted to. I argued for about a minute before I realized I wasn’t going to win and not winning meant a free vacation so I gave in.”

I burst out laughing at her honesty and flop back down.

“Our first appointment is when?” I ask.

“About two hours. Our body treatments are today. Facials and nails tomorrow. I think we have massages scheduled, too, but I can’t remember. We’ll ask today, because I don’t know if the body treatment is a massage, too, or if it’s just making our skin all glowy and beautiful.”

“We don’t have to do both. I feel like we’re taking advantage of Brock’s generosity.”

“Meh. He won’t care.”

She’s probably right. He won’t care. But that doesn’t mean I feel any less guilty about it. I’ll have to somehow pay him back for my portion later. Even if it’s sending him cash in the mail with no return address.

“Should we order something to eat?”
