“Yes, lots of excitement,” Nick replied.
“You again, eh?” The police officer said to Alicia.
“Afraid so,” Alicia said.
Nick sat, craning his head to see Mulberry pace up and down the hallway as another police officer approached her.
“Mulberry…”
“Don’t worry. She won’t say anything until her legal counsel gets here,” Alicia said.
“We just want to know what happened,” the police officer said.
“Ask away, officer,” Nick said.

After wasting more time, the police officer finally let him go. Alicia didn’t let him answer one single question. Henri called him as he made his way toward Mulberry.
“Yes?”
“I need you in the office right now,” his father said.
“This isn’t a good time.”
“I don’t care! Get in here,” Henri hung up.
Same old Henri, Nick sighed.
“Mulberry, let’s order dinner tonight.” Nick put a hand on her arm. She shook it off.
“I’m fine, thanks. I have to meet with mom’s PR people, and I have a TV interview tonight.” She looked everywhere except his face.
“Let me come with you.”
“No, it’s all right. I know it’s not your thing.” She turned back to her phone conversation.
Nick wanted to rip the phone from her hand but waited until she hung up.
“You kept me safe. You did your job.”
“You were more than a job from the moment I kissed you at the gala. You certainly didn’t feel like a job when my cock was buried deep in your ass this morning.”
She blushed, shaking her head. “This isn’t real, you and me.”
“It’s so incredibly real. Is it scaring you? We can slow down. You need time to process what happened here. I get that. But don’t tell me how I feel for you isn’t true.”
Tears streaked down her cheek, and she shook her head.
He wiped away her tears.
“I just…I don’t want you near me right now.”
As if he’d been kicked in the balls, the pain rocketed through his body from her words.
“Are you sure?”
“Mulberry!” Grace ran over to her daughter.
