“Even though he’s now mad at you?”

Cade chuckled. “He’ll get over it. I mean, he got over the Em thing. And I know how badly he wants Blaze to happen. But all that was my risk to take. I didn’t have the right to make that decision for you.”

“I have to tell you something.”

“What’s that?”

“I love you too.”

He threw his head back and laughed. “For years, I thought those were the last words I wanted to hear, but I love the sound of them, coming out of your mouth.”

“So, I guess this means I’d better tell Hugh there’ll be no do-over on our date.”

Cade’s face grew dark, and he growled.

Squeezing his shoulders, I brushed my lips over his. “I’m kidding. You’re the only one I want to be with.”

“Looking back, Saturday should have been a big fucking clue on how I felt about you.” Sliding his hand into my hair, he fisted it as the other went around the front of my neck. “You’re mine, Rayne. Every single inch of you. Do you understand?”

“Maybe. I have a question for you first.”

His brow rose as he loosened his hold on me. “Oh, really?”

“You said, back in high school, you pretty much wanted to get into any female’s…”

What was I doing? This hot man had told me he loved me, and I was going to ruin it.

Cade grinned. “The answer’s yes, babe.”

“What?”

“Did I want to fuck you back in high school? Hell yeah, I did.”

My mouth dropped open.

“But, like, you were an underclassman, and I, like, totally couldn’t be seen with you,” he said in a Valley Girl voice. In his normal voice, he added, “And then there was Beau.”

I couldn’t stop the grin from forming on my face.

“So, what do you say? Are you mine, Rayne?”

I nodded. “I’m yours.”

“Good. Because I’m yours.” Lifting my hand, he placed it on his chest. “Especially my heart.”

And what do you know? It felt a lot more special for him to give me his heart than for him to claim mine.

I kissed him, but I quickly pulled away before we ended up naked.

“One more thing.”

He groaned. “What?”

“We’re going to see Beau and tell him the truth. You are going to get that damn restaurant.”
