Page 54 of Rebel's Fairytale
When Rebel wrapped his arms around her and pulled her until she plastered to his body, Bri let him. Taking over the kiss, Rebel began moving them out of the kitchen and toward his bedroom door. Bri broke the kiss, suddenly aware of the people watching them, and dug her heels in to stop him.
“Wait,” she breathed against his lips.
Rebel’s eyes were giving that greenish-gold light. “You can’t kiss me like that if you don’t want me to drag you to my bedroom and fuck you ten ways ’til Sunday.”
Bri giggled, but she felt her cheeks heat up.
“Don’t mind us,” Pike said.
When did he get here? She glanced around Rebel to see Pixie, Pike, Siren, Sugar, and Ranger standing there.
“We’ll wait,” Ranger added with a grin on his face.
Bri pressed her face into Rebel’s neck and groaned. She felt his chest moving with his laughter.
“Ruby, it’s okay. Nothing to be embarrassed about.”
“Seriously,” Siren began, “we all do it. Do you know how many times church has been delayed because Axle’s been busy in his office?”
Bri lifted her head and glanced over at them again.
Ranger’s phone started ringing. He pulled it out of the pocket of his cut and looked at the screen. “Fuck. It’s like he knows when we’re talking about him.” He pressedanswerand put the phone on speaker. “Yeah, Pres?”
“You need to lay the fuck off of Dragon,” Axle growled from the other end of the line. “You and Trip are going to end up dead. Do you understand that? That man could kill you without breaking a fucking sweat!”
“Uh… yeah, Ax, I hear you. By the way, you’re on speaker.”
There was a pause. “Who are you with?”
“I’m at Rebel’s, so him, Ruby, Sugar, Siren, Pixie, and Pike.”
“Hi, ladies. Sorry you had to hear that, but I’m in charge of a group of adolescents who can’t seem to understand consequences.”
Bri laughed with the other two women, while the men all rolled their eyes.
“Ranger, steer clear of Dragon. I mean it.”
“You got it, Pres.”
“And Ruby, know that we’re taking care of the library issue. Nothing to worry about on that front.”
A little surprised, Bri jolted and replied, “Uh. Okay. Thanks?”
“Have a good night.” Then, the line clicked, and Ranger shoved the phone back into his pocket.
Bri looked at Rebel and raised a brow. “Something we need to talk about?”
Rebel gave her a smile. “Yeah… a lot, actually, but it can wait until later. We will have dinner and fun with our friends first.”
Bri was curious about their plans to save the library, but she knew it was something she didn’t want to discuss with an audience, so she shelved the discussion and decided to focus on the dinner aspect of the evening.
Letting go of Rebel, she rounded him and headed for the oven. “Dinner will be done in twenty minutes. Hope you all like Chicken Pot Pie Casserole. I hope I made enough.”
“There are a couple frozen pizzas in the freezer if we’re still hungry,” Rebel told her as he moved to the refrigerator and grabbed a few bottles of beer. “Sugar, what can I get you to drink?”
After getting the oven going and setting the timer, Bri returned to the island and looked at all the stuff Rebel had bought for her. He really was a generous and thoughtful man. As he talked with his brothers and the women, Bri leaned into his side. He shifted his arm around her shoulders, allowing her to wrap her arms around his waist.
Soaking in the family vibes rolling around the room and the easy way they all included her in their discussions, Bri felt her resistance crumble a little more and her heart warm to the idea of accepting Rebel ashers.
