“It’s wonderful to meet you, Shelby,” his mom said, giving her a warm welcoming smile. “I’m Serena, but you can call Mom or Momma if you want. I can tell you’re going to keep Landon on his toes. We can get to know each other more on the plane home.”
“Mom,” Landon said, stopping her speech. “I need to take Shelby back to the Davidson pack so she can tell her parents she’s coming home with me. Once they know and we have some of her things, then I’ll be bringing her home. For now, if you’ll let us borrow one of the plane, we can get there still tonight and then be home tomorrow or the next evening. Katya doesn’t need to be flying out there, then back to our place, then home.”
“He’s right, blue eyes and you know it,” Brian said before Katya could argue. “I let you come out here to see he was in one piece so you wouldn’t make yourself sick. So, let’s go back to your parents’, have Lois and Shane bring the boys up in the morning, and we can spend a few weeks there so you can get to know Shelby better before we get home to have these girls.”
“Alright,” Katya said snuggling into Brian’s side and Shelby sighed softly, hoping she’d have that much love surrounding her after five and a half years of being mated.
“No more of this keeping us out shit, got it?” Katya added to her brother and Landon nodded, giving her a hug before Brian began moving her back towards the plane.
“Heath, go home with your sister, keep an eye on her,” his father said earning a nod from the man. “Take Thatcher and Alan with you, along with the prisoner they seem to have there.”
“He’s the one we were after,” Landon said, and Heath’s eyes darkened dangerously. “He’s been in the cage for almost two weeks, he’ll talk now.”
“Good,” Heath said before calling out the name Mason. Another man moved up to reach their group, giving Heath a nod before giving one to her and Landon. “Have Jonah go with them as well; I don’t want him getting loose.”
“He won’t,” Mason said, calling the other man over before the three shoved the cuffed shifter towards the plane.
“The group that was holding you?” Mason added to Landon, looking a bit surprised at the idea of it being possible.
“The ones that aren’t dead are in their cage currently, with the rest of the guards from the Davidson’s pack standing watch,” Landon explained. “There’s a powerful curse on that cage. Whatever witch did it, we need to find. Anyone powerful enough to create something like that needs handled.”
“We’ll find her,” Mason stated. “We brought your Bravo team with us as well, but I can see that you’re not going to be joining us.”
“Not a chance,” Landon said, his breath tickling her temple before he dropped another kiss to it. “This is my mate, Shelby. I’m taking her home to let her parents know she’s safe and mine before we come home. Shelby, this is Mason. He’s the leader of the Charlie Squad. He’s the only non-family member to lead one of our top three squads.”
“Unless Katya’s around and able to lead the Alpha Squad,” Mason added with a shrug at the surprise on Ashton, Theo, Dan and Shawn’s faces. “She can take down Heath in a matter of seconds. Never seen a girl like her.”
“Sounds like you’ll get along well with her then, Shelby,” Theo said bringing attention back to her.
“Shelby’s the top hunter in our pack,” Shawn added and she flushed slightly at the looks from his parents. “She might be human, but don’t piss her off unless you want an unexpected nap.”
“She grew up with Ashton, only way to shut him up most days,” Theo joked, patting his shoulder as Ashton continued to glare at Landon. “He’s just pissed that Landon got the better of him. He just needs to cool off.”
“Humprf,” Ashton snorted, making her sigh.
“We want to hear all about you,” Serena said, giving her a soft smile.
“And you’ll get to once I have her home,” Landon stated. “For now, get Katya back home, and we’ll see you in a day or two.”
“We’re coming with you,” Charles stated, giving Landon a hard stare when he began to argue. “Your mother will want to assure your mate’s parents that she’s in good hands, and I will want to speak with Jerimiah on things that happened here. Shall we?” he added motioning towards the plane, and they couldn’t begin to say no.
Shelby smiled when Landon pulled her onto his lap in one of the huge reclining seats, buckling them in for takeoff. Ashton, Theo and Dan settled into seats further back in the plane, letting Landon’s parents take the couch across from the seat Landon chose, while Shawn went with Mason and squadrons to round up the prisoners and see about locating the witch.
Her eyes began to droop as the plane started to move and the next thing she knew, was cool night air caressing her.
She smiled as Landon slid into a waiting car, keeping her in his lap still. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to fall asleep on you.”
“Best catnap I’ve ever had, baby,” Landon said, brushing a kiss to her lips that had her resting further into his hold.
The drive from the airfield to their pack was less than ten minutes but she was anxious to get there, let her parents know she was safe, and then go home with Landon now. She honestly would have gone straight home with him if she knew her parents wouldn’t come after her, demanding to see her to know this was what she truly wanted, especially with Ashton’s attitude.
She didn’t know what was wrong with him, but she’d figure it out. Maybe not before she went home with Landon but sometime after that. He was her best friend, her brother still, and she wouldn’t let him stew about this for long.
By the time the car with her, Landon, and his parents stopped behind the one Ashton, Dan and Theo were in, her parents, Dan’s mate, and Jerimiah were all at the door of the packhouse hurrying towards them. She smiled as Landon pressed a kiss to her temple, letting his parents slide out before he moved them from their spot.
“Alpha Regent, we didn’t know you were in the area,” Jerimiah said in shock and Shelby smiled hearing Emily asking Ashton about her.
“I’m fine Mama,” she stated as Landon settled her on her feet.
