“Is this true, Harley? Are you in a relationship with…this….man?”

“Another question that is none of your business. But let me put your mind at ease, she was in my bed last night, she slept with my arms around her all night, and this morning, you interrupted a very satisfying Sunday morning orgasm - which I shouldn’t have to tell you - is the best kind of orgasm. You played your hand - it was a shitty play - but you played it and you lost. Sorry, not sorry, Jeffy.”

“I think your time with this company has come to an end, Harley. I’ll have someone pack your things and mail them to you. You won’t be coming back.”

“But…,”

Before I can say a word, Colm has me thrown over his shoulder and heading to the garage but before he does he turns back to look at Jeff.

“You’re lucky I’m the chill twin or else I would stomp a mud puddle in your uppity ass and walk it dry. You disgust me.”

“You won’t work in this profession again, Harley.”

I would gasp if I could take in enough air to do it but slung over Colm’s shoulder like I am, I can’t. He doesn’t stop or set me down until we are back at the car and even then he’s buckling me in before I have time to object. Big silent tears leak out of my eyes as I fight back the urge to sob uncontrollably. What the hell just happened? What wrecking ball just came into my life and destroyed it? When I get inside and see my sister all I can do is break down yelp.

“He got me fired!”

Chapter Nine

____________

Colm

“He’s lucky I didn’t kill him. The fucker.”

I realize what I did was wrong. In my head, I understand that. But seeing that bastard leer at my angel just sent me to a place much darker and scarier than any Cade has ever been to.

“Just calm down and tell me what happened.” Harper comes over and wraps her arms around her sister.

“This asshole got me fired, that’s what happened. He told Jeff he was my boyfriend.”

“I am your boyfriend.” Cade comes over like he may be thinking about holding me back. Fat chance that’s going to happen.

“No, you aren’t.”

“My dick was out in the same room you were in last night. That makes us boyfriend and girlfriend. And what’s more, we’re going to be a hell of a lot more.”

“Why don’t you take your sister into our room so you two can talk? While I kick Colm’s ass.”

“Whatever, you’ve never been able to kick my ass. Even as children.”

Cade glances at me with a look that clearly asks what the hell gives, as Harper takes a crying Harley to Cade’s room. Don’t think I missed the little slip about it being ‘their’ room either.

“He was all over her.”

“Nuff said.” He holds up his hands. He would have done the same if places had been switched. “Just checking.”

I roll my eyes but offer him the respect he’s due for standing up for Harley.

“How long do you think we have to wait?”

“I'm not sure, couple more minutes.”

I watch the clock tick down, every second feeling like a year, as I wait for the sisters to have enough time to ‘talk’. Then I’m knocking on the door and pleading my case with Harper.

“Can I speak to your sister? Please?”

She leaves us alone giving my arm a squeeze as she goes, showing her support for what I did. It was, after all, her who told me what an ass Jeff was in the first place. By the time we got to her office, I was boiling with unadulterated pissed-off rage that Harley had to go through that shit.
