“Right,” I say.
I actually didn’t have any idea about that, and I’m starting to feel anxious. But I tell myself I have more important and pressing matters to think about right now than what the school is going to say when they find out we hung shit on the walls.
I have three of the hottest guys on campus standing in my little dorm room for God’s sake. I can’t be worried about pinpoint holes in the wall right now.
“So, question,” Zach says.
I stiffen. I’m not sure what to expect from any of them, and I’ve been trying to convince myself to be prepared for anything. But whenever one of them addresses me, I tense.
“Yes?” I ask.
“What made you decide you want to take us up on our offer?” he asks.
It’s a fair question.
I know I’m a wallflower. I know I’m a recluse. And I like things that way. I didn’t know it was so obvious that I’m also a virgin, but I figure it doesn’t hurt that they know that now. On the other hand, I wish it wasn’t quite so obvious, as that’s the thing that has been major in holding me back from Johnny.
“Isn’t it obvious?” I ask. “I want to get Johnny’s attention. You three are some of the most popular kids in school. I figure if anyone’s going to know how to get someone’s attention, it’ll be you.”
“That’s not what I mean, and you know it,” Zach says. “I don’t believe for one second you think you’re not able to get his attention yourself if you don’t want to. Shy is an excuse. You could do something to help you with that, whether it’s going to classes, or some kind of group, or even just going the good old liquid courage route and getting yourself some moxy that way. I want to know why you went with the offer we had in store for you which entails losing your V-card and all that goes along with it.”
“I think that’s a fair question,” Cory pipes up. “Obviously we know you want to get Johnny’s attention, but what made you willing to go with this way of doing things in order to get it?”
I sigh.
“I guess if this is going to work, we’re going to have to be open and honest with each other, huh?” I say.
“That would be ideal,” Taylor says. “Honesty is always the best policy. At least, that’s what I’ve heard.”
He gives the other two a smirk, and I briefly wonder if this was a mistake. It would be difficult enough to be doing something like this with just one of them, but to have all three of them might be too much for me to handle. I barely make it out of the dorm to go to school without feeling sick with anxiety. How the hell am I going to be able to deal with these three jocks?
“Johnny doesn’t want a virgin,” I say.
There’s a nod that passes among the three of them, and I can’t hide my surprise.
“Is that normal?” I ask.
“Totally,” Zach says. “I largely feel the same way, but I’m making an exception for you.”
“How sweet.” I roll my eyes.
“No, it’s normal because like, a lot of guys who aren’t looking to get involved in anything don’t want to be with a virgin because they feel like if they fuck a virgin, then they’re obligated to then take care of the girl. Like, it’s like they feel bad that they’re her first, and because of that they don’t have the option to casually break it off with her. You don’t find many girls who are looking to simply lose their V-card for the sake of it,” Cory explains.
“Is this something guys just talk about when there aren’t any girls around or what?” I ask with wide eyes.
“What do you mean?” Zach asks.
“I mean, last year Johnny even gave a speech about that very thing in one of the parties he went to,” I tell them.
“I feel like I would have remembered that,” Taylor says.
“If we were even there,” Zach tells him.
“How many parties are there that we don’t go to?” Taylor asks.
“Plenty, I’m sure, if there’s another party that’s got better booze and girls up the street,” Zach says. “Trust me when I say I scope out the best of the best when I choose which parties we’re attending.”
I want to roll my eyes again, and once more I’m wondering just what I got myself into with this. But I’m not going to say that out loud. The fact that they understand that Johnny doesn’t want a virgin and aren’t acting like it’s strange is a plus in my book.
