“Let’s see.” Pete tilted the woman’s face. “What do you want tonight?”

Grabbing his shirt, she pressed her face into his chest and giggled. “To have sex with all of you. I swear I’m not bad, but if I’m going to do one spontaneous thing—”

“Well.” Steve sighed. “That answers that.”

Jayne tensed. No one might have noticed, but I did. Any time her heart skipped a beat or changed a rhythm, it revealed all her secrets.

“Leave me out,” I said.

Pete narrowed his eyes. “The lady saidall.”

“Two is better than none. She’ll be more than happy,” I muttered.

“Yes, so happy.” The woman slipped her hand up Pete’s shirt.

He stiffened and grabbed her wrist. “Easy.” His eyes darted to Jayne so briefly I wouldn’t have noticed if I wasn’t staring at his face.

Steve and Pete might not act on it, but their feelings were unique to Jayne. But their emotions had better not involve imagining her naked or thinking about her obsessively. Only I could do that. Even so, my bandmates were going to drive me fucking crazy as they constantly watched her.

“That’s not what we’re going to do. It’s just what we need you to remember.”

Listening to Pete, I gritted my teeth and briefly glanced at Jayne again. So Pete wasn’t as comfortable with Jayne watching as he led us to believe? That fucker! I couldn’t be relieved because it meant, for whatever reason, he might not want her to see him bite the woman.

Feeding was something we all had to do to survive. But I sure as Hell didn’t want to feed on anyone else. Not if it bothered Jayne like it already upset me.

“That doesn’t sound fun,” the woman whined.

“Don’t worry. It’ll feel fantastic,” Steve murmured. He crouched in front of her and Pete.

I peeked at Jayne. Sitting ramrod straight on her chair, her face and neck were covered in red blotches. As if sensing me staring, she glanced in my direction.

“I’m fine,” she squeaked and flattened her palm against her chest before looking back toward the three. “Stop listening to my heart. Stop smelling my emotions and show me… Everything’s going to be okay.”

I swallowed. Before Jayne asked the impossible, I said, “I’m not feeding tonight.” Pete and Steve narrowed their eyes, so I said more sternly. “I’m not hungry. I can wait.”

“You never skip a meal,” Steve stated.

Jayne's lips flattened, and she crossed her arms. “You guys are the one that invited me. Ignore me. I’ll leave when I see you’re not murderers.”

We all froze.

Her heart went into a frenzy. Those thumps always gave her away. “You’re not killers, right?”

Jayne’s words dared us to be as evil as she imagined. I wanted to show her how wrong she was. At least with this band of vampires, she was safe.

“We’ll tell you what you want to know, and all the things you won’t want to know,” I promised. “We only hurt those that come after us. And anyone that dares to harm you.”

“Okay.” Jayne exhaled. “Go ahead. Rupert will search for us soon, and I’d like to get to my hotel room sometime tonight.” She feigned a bored, bossy tone to hide her genuine emotions. I let her do it.For now.

“This will be pleasurable for you, so don’t freak out, okay?” Steve grabbed the woman’s arm and brought her wrist to his mouth. Just like that, his fangs punctured flesh.

The woman moaned. Jayne gasped, eyes widening for the hundredth time that night. As the woman sagged into Pete, he moved her blonde hair off her neck and fed. I could smell her blood from here, but my feelings for Jayne drowned out my thirst. My reaction in the bathroom had been instant to her blood while the smell of the woman’s was…like spoiled milk.Unusual.

I glanced over at Jayne. Since she always wore those tight, perfect buns atop her head, her slender neck was exposed. I zeroed in on her vein thrumming within her neck. Remembering the mingled aroma of her arousal and strawberry-scented blood, I salivated. My fangs forced themselves out.Fuck.I wiped my face.I couldn’t deny I wanted her in every sense.

“If you’re hungry, then drink.” Jayne’s voice was thick and acidic.

Dropping my hand, I studied the set of her jaw and the pout of her lips.
