Her gaze is glossy by the time our eyes meet again, a tinge of color brightening her face. “You had your chance and blew it. Move on. I’m never going to give in to you.”
“You sure about that? We both know your body is on board. I don’t think it will take all that long for your resolve to crumble. If you give me what I want, I’ll give you what you want. It’s that simple.”
She scowls. “Not going to happen. I can get laid anytime, don’t need you for that. In fact, I don’t need a man to get off at all.”
“Maybe not. But you’ll come around. Want to know how I know?”
She raises an eyebrow, her expression unimpressed. “Your arrogance is truly astounding. But all right, I’ll bite. Enlighten me.”
“Because...” I keep my voice low and husky, leaning in close again. “Every time you’re with someone else, it’ll be me you’re thinking about. Each time your hand slips between your thighs, your finger rubbing your swollen clit, it will be thoughts of my hands, my lips, my tongue that bring you that release.” Color tints her cheeks as I stand straight again, her throat bobbing as she swallows. “You’ll give in eventually, Peach. And when you do, I’ll be here waiting for you.”
“Ms. Sawyer,” one of her student whines. “Tristian won’t let me have a turn on the swings.”
She takes a deep breath, her narrowed eyes softening as she turns to the kid. “I think I’d like to go down that big slide over there. Why don’t you come with me?”
The little girl lights up. “Yeah! That’s way better than the swings, anyway.”
“Exactly. I’ll bet Tristian comes running over to the slides as soon as he sees how much fun we’re having. See, Sarah... this is how you deal with boys like him. If they think you aren’t interested in what they have, they’ll give it up more freely.”
Parker’s eyes slide back over to me as I laugh, one corner of her mouth curving. We both know she’s interested in what I have, and I’m not giving it to her until she’s mine.
Parker
Josie strollsinto my classroom after bus duty, looking like a dog with its tail between their legs. I’ve been avoiding and ignoring her all day, knowing how crazy it makes her. Serves her right for what she did. Elias followed me around all day, his presence making my skin buzz.
I’ll make you feel like every nerve in your body is on the cusp of erupting with pleasure.
The bastard is good, I’ll give him that. But he has no idea who he’s toying with. I’m not some misguided girl, desperate for a man’s affection. I’m the kind of woman who brings men to their knees.
“Nope.” I shake my head, crossing my arms. “Go away. I’m not speaking to you.”
Josie chuckles as she moves closer. “Come on, you can’t really be mad at me. I saw the two of you on the playground together. Thank God I’m already pregnant. The sexual tension happening between the two of you was hot enough to knock someone up.”
And when I finally let you crash onto the shore, you’ll understand why the wait is the best part.
My body heats as his words echo in my head, my skin tingling as if I can still feel his breath brushing against it.
“He’s an asshole,” I grit, “and your friendship status is officially revoked. How could you not tell me he was going to be there today? Or that Grace was in your class?”
She grimaces, her shoulders slightly shrugging. “To be fair, every time I’ve mentioned Elias in the past, you’ve shut me down.”
That’s because she spent weeks trying to convince me that it was a good thing Elias didn’t try to sleep with me on the first date. Then she gave the asshole my number when he came sniffing around again, knowing I had no interest in speaking to him.
“And you know why. Yet, you let him blindside me today. What the fuck, Jos?”
“I’m sorry... I was only trying to help. You gave me a little push when I needed it with August, and I thought I could return the favor. You obviously liked Elias, and he’s a good guy. Why not give it another shot?”
What I did with August and what she did to me are two different things. I mean... okay, yes, I set her up and tricked her into going to the bar with him alone. But she needed to get laid. She needed someone to remind her that she’s a bad bitch. Especially after her asshole ex-husband cheated. And the two of them were dancing around the inevitable. All I did was help them pull the damn trigger.
I scoff. “He’s not a good guy. He’s just another man trying to fuck with my head, and I’m not here for it.”
The fact that we seemed to hit it off so easily that night should’ve been a warning. I used to have a bad habit of falling for the wrong men. The kind of men who lie and manipulate to get whatever they want. Men who will play with you until they get bored then leave you a little more broken than when they found you. But I learned my lesson.
“Is it really so hard to believe that he’s genuinely interested in you?”
“Of course, he’s interested. I’m smoking hot.” I smirk, gesturing to my body. “The problem is, he wants more than a nice roll in the hay.”
“I still don’t see why that’s such a bad thing. The man just wants to take you out again.”
