She lay on his chest, panting and completely satisfied. She turned her head slightly to look at her shoulder where she could still feel his mouth.

She saw there was a perfect imprint of his teeth, his wolf fangs, and she loved it. She could feel him, his emotions spilling out of him, intoxicating.

With her chin resting on his chest, she looked up into his eyes and she could see everything he was feeling. He didn’t try to hide any of it, and she didn’t question it, “You bit me.”

She said it with a smile. He nodded, “I got a little carried away. I didn’t mean to mark you so soon, but I couldn’t help it. I hope you don’t mind.”

He looked a little worried, so she rose up just enough to kiss his lips, “I don’t mind. I was always yours.”

He smiled and pulled her closer for another, deeper kiss.

She was laying there dozing, enjoying the feel of Aiden’s arms wrapped around her and thankful her headache was getting a little bit better, when a vibrating sound echoed through the room.

Aiden shifted around behind her, then answered his phone. He didn’t actually say anything, just grunted at whoever had called before hanging up again.

“My sister is looking for you.” He said as he dropped his phone back onto the bedside table and wrapped himself back around her.

She groaned and wiggled closer to him. His chest was pressed tight to her back, his arm around her tucked tight under her breasts and his leg was thrown over hers. Spooning had never felt so good, and she was not ready to move.

“Which sister and what does she want?” she asked as she snuggled further into his embrace.

Aiden sighed, “Cassie. Apparently ya’ll are training this morning before she has to go into the restaurant. She wants you to meet her in the back yard in twenty.”

“Guess we’re done being lazy. Release me!” Aiden buried his face in her neck and held on for another minute before letting her go.

Her hair was still wet from the shower they’d taken, so she quickly put it up into a bun and grabbed her clothes from last night. She would need to run to her room to get clean clothes.

It took a little longer to get out of Aiden’s room than it should have. He kept distracting her while she tried to dress, but once she finally extracted herself, she only had five minutes left. She wasn’t sure what learning to fight would entail, but figured she’d be getting sweaty so decided on workout clothes and sneakers.

She ran out of her room in such a hurry that she didn’t notice the large man standing in the hallway until she ran right into him, “Oh gosh. I’m so sorry!”

The wall of muscle barely moved, but he did turn. He was a tall red head with a bushy beard and blue eyes that were now examining her from head to toe.

She felt like a deer being stalked by the big bad wolf.

Kenzie didn’t look away from his stern face, but then he smiled, his eyes softening, “No worries lass. You must be Mackenzie. You look so much like your mother. It’s a pleasure to finally meet you.”

The strong Irish accent shouldn’t have been such a surprise with the red hair, but it was. It made his words sound beautiful. He held out his hand for her to shake, “Uh yes, that’s me. And you are?”

“I’m Colin, councilman for the witches.” He stated it so casually, like it wasn’t a big deal that he was here.

She dropped his hand and took a slight step back. He followed her movement with his eyes, making her feel hunted. “I’m sorry for running into you. I was a bit distracted.”

He waved his hand, “Not a problem at all. I’ve been wanting to meet you anyway. Are you off to train?”

The fact that he knew what she was doing creeped her out a little, but she shrugged it off since he seemed nice enough, “Yes. I’m going to do fight training with Cassie, then I should be training with Raven after.”

“You will also be training with me and Sabine for your magic. Raven is… not as experienced as we are.” He paused, like he was trying to decide what to say. She was pretty sure “experienced” was not the word he was going to use.

She suddenly felt very protective of the witch who she already considered a friend. She was now very curious what his problem was with her because he had made it obvious that there was one.

Kenzie knew she could trust Raven. This man was new, and he was a council member, which made her automatically suspicious.

Putting her suspicions aside for now, she nodded, “Alright, then I guess I’ll see you later. It was nice to meet you, I think.”

She didn’t wait for a reply, just continued down the hall, but she heard a light chuckle come from him as she walked away.

Cassie flipped Kenzie onto the ground, flat on her back, for the fifth time. She laid there for a minute, looking up at the bright morning sky. There wasn’t a cloud in the sight, and of course, it was already close to ninety degrees.
