“Any outstanding warrants?”

“No, sir.”

“Other kids running around?”

“Not that I am aware of,” I muttered, then quickly replied, “No, Sir,” when Mike narrowed his eyes at me and growled.

“STD’s?”

“No.”

“DUI’s?”

“No.”

“Arrested?”

“Many times,” I smirked, then quickly replied, “Nothing serious. Just stupid shit. Ask King. He will verify that.”

Mike huffed.

“Blood type?”

“O positive?” I whispered, wondering where he was going with that question.

“Believe in God?”

“Praying to him right now,” I muttered, just as my phone dinged, letting me know a new text message arrived. Ignoring the urge to see who it was, I sat still waiting for Mike to volley another fifty questions my way just as my phone began to ring.

Groaning, I ignored it as Mike quirked an eyebrow at me. “You gonna get that?”

“No, Sir.”

My cellphone eventually stopped ringing, and I sighed in relief just as Mike’s desk phone began ringing. I sat in silence as the man picked up the phone on the desk and spoke. “Mike Brewer.”

“I’ve got class in ten. I’ve got that information you wanted on Carter Glover, and you are not going to like it. A junior at the University of Rhode Island, the pissant is the youngest son of state attorney John Glover. Carter has been in and out of trouble for years, but thanks to his dad’s connections, the charges don’t stick.”

“Get to the point, Sypher. I’m on borrowed time.” I growled, looking at Mike, who hadn’t stopped glaring at me since he handed me the phone. “Is he the one who hit Sarah or not?”

“Not sure, Mr. Gunner, but I am sure that King is going to want to do something about him.”

That stopped me short.

King only dealt with the really nasty shit.

What the fuck could have Carter Glover done to warrant King’s justice?

“What do you mean?”

“Carter Glover is running an underground website on the dark web. He, uh...he sells naked pics of college girls for cash.”

I slowly stood, growling. “Tell me he doesn’t have...”
