“He does. I’m sorry, Mr. Gunner. I’ve wiped all the ones I could find, but they are out there. I have no way of tracing who bought them unless I break into his server.”

“What?” Mike asked, getting to his feet.

“Tell me you did that, kid.”

Sypher chuckled. “Of course, I did. This ain’t my first rodeo. I have a list of all the buyers.”

“Send everything you have on this fucker to King. I want it all.”

“Yes, Mr. Gunner,” I heard the kid gulp. “I am sorry, man.”

“Not your fault, kid. You just did what I asked.” I said, before hanging up the phone to find Mike standing firm, arms crossed over his chest, snarling as he glared at me as a thought popped into my head.

I just got a stay in my execution.

The clubhouse was humming as Mike and I walked in to find King shouting orders. The brothers rushed around, gathering shit they needed. Walking over to King, he yelled, “And someone get Montana on the phone!”

“Why are you calling him?” I asked, confused as I looked about the room. It looked like everyone was gearing up for war.

“Common courtesy. We’re gonna be in his neck of the woods and I’m not stepping on anyone’s toes.”

“But he’s in New York City.”

“He’s got a chapter in Rhode Island. Don’t you pay attention in Church?”

“Sometimes,” I muttered, watching Frank walk past while stuffing a turkey leg in his mouth. Where in the hell did he get that? Looking over King’s shoulder, I wondered if there was another one in the kitchen. Bloodlust made me hungry.

Rubbing my hands together, I asked, “So, what’s the plan? When do we leave?”

“We?” King smirked, shaking hands with Mike before turning to me. “I am going to Rhode Island. You are staying here and looking after your woman.”

“What?”

“You heard me. You are not going.”

“But Sarah is my woman!”

“And she’s pregnant. You need to stay with her.”

“She can stay with her parents!”

“Mike is going with us.”

“What?!”

“Gunner,” King sighed. “You have no training. You would be a liability. Mike is a trained sniper. He can be useful. You are also the VP of this club. I need you to stay here and hold down the fort and make sure your woman rests. She just had surgery, man. Think for a minute. I need you here more than in Rhode Island.”

I narrowed my eyes at my older brother. I knew what the fuck he was doing and I didn’t like it. I got it but I didn’t like it. He was doing what he always did concerning me and Pyro. When we were kids, that was okay, but it was still wrong. “You’re protecting me again, aren’t you?”

“No, I am protecting the future of this club. You are just a secondary thought, but what I said is true. I need you here.”

Liar.

“And I’m leaving Scribe here to help you.”

“Why him!?”

“Because Priest, Frank and Pyro are going with me.”
