I laughed as I walked away.
“Hey, babydoll?”
Stopping, I turned. “Yeah?”
“I really like it when you call my place home.”
Smiling, I replied. “I do to.”
Jumping into Gunner’s truck, I started the engine and drove out of the compound. Looking in the rearview mirror, I saw Gunner standing, watching me drive away with a smile on his face.
Pulling into the driveway of Gunner’s log cabin, I cut the engine and hopped out, trying not to cringe from the wetness of my panties and shorts. Making my way to the door, I let myself in, shutting the door behind me.
I dropped my purse and keys on the kitchen counter before heading straight for the master bedroom, taking my clothes off along the way. Entering the bathroom, I turned on the shower, then stepped in.
Sighing, I allowed the warm spray to wash over me, removing all the dirt, grime, and sticky juices from my romp in the car’s backseat. God, the hot water felt good.
I had just grabbed my shampoo bottle when I heard Bailey shout out my name. “Sarah!”
“In the shower!” I yelled back.
Moments later, I heard the bathroom door open.
“Oh, there you are.”
“What’s up?” I asked, lathering my hair.
“There’s gonna be a big dinner tonight at the clubhouse, since the guys are going to be home later tonight. Kind of like a family dinner of sorts. I’ve invited your mom and dad.”
“Okay?”
When Bailey didn’t say anything else, I peeked around the shower curtain and asked. “You okay,Bailey?”
“Fuck no!” she shouted, pacing the bathroom. “I need you to do something for me.”
“Okay. What?”
“Can you go with me to the Clinic?”
“Sure. Why?”
“Because fucking Scribe hid my birth control pills, that’s why! And now King is insisting I get a pregnancy test done.”
“That’s easy enough. What’s the problem? Just go piss in a cup.”
“If that was all I had to do, then I wouldn’t need you. Claudia wants to draw blood.”
She wasn’t making any sense.
“Help me out here, Bailey. I don’t see a problem.”
I heard her mutter something, but because of the running water, I couldn’t hear her clearly. “Can you repeat that?”
Rinsing my hair, I heard her mutter again.
Still nothing.
Sighing, I turned off the water and grabbed a towel. Wrapping it around me, I flung back the shower curtain and said. “I still didn’t hear you.”
