Standing in line, I was looking at my new phone Gunner got me when Scribe asked. “Has he asked you yet?”

“What?”

“Gunner.”

Confused, I looked up at him.

“He’s got a ring.”

“A ring?”

“Yeah. King gave it to him the other day, you know, before barf-gate 2023 happened. I was just wondering since I don’t see you wearing it.”

Before I could even think of anything to say a smarmy whiney voice behind me laughed. “Oh that’s just fucking perfect.”

Turning, I sighed as Holly Evers glared at me, arms crossed over her chest as she tapped her pointy knock off Prada shoes. “You’re not even here a fucking month and he’s knocked you up and now he’s marrying you. Fucking perfect.”

“Go away, Holly,” Scribe groaned, his face getting paler by the minute. He really shouldn’t have left his bed. Looking around, I spotted a chair. Taking his hand, I pulled him over to it. “Sit down before you fall down. I’ll get your prescription.”

Getting back in line, I ignored the jealous woman behind me as she continued talking loudly for all to hear. “I think it’s rather fitting. The man whore of Rosewood and the coffee shop slut. You know he will never be faithful to you. He was fucking me the day before he screwed you. I’ve never been one for sloppy seconds, but hey, if that’s your thing, who am I to stop you? I’m just thankful I don’t have to deal with his fucking childish ways anymore. The man cares more about himself than anyone else.”

“Holly, enough,” a woman in front of me said, turning around to face the crazy bitch. I just wanted to get what I came for and leave. I didn’t want any more trouble with Holly. “What is your fucking problem?”

“Oh, shut up, Sugar. You, of all people, know what I’m talking about. You’ve slept with the man whore yourself.”

“That may be true, but at least I am woman enough to move on. You are just butt-hurt because he chose Sarah over you. He was never going to marry you. We all knew that. Only you were too stupid to see.”

“He was mine!” Holly shouted loudly.

Another woman walked over and stood next to Sugar and grinned. “Funny. Didn’t you tell me three months ago that you were screwing your economics professor at that fancy school you went to?”

“Really!” Sugar smiled brightly at the newcomer. “Tell me more, Morgan.”

The pretty brunette smiled. “Well, Holly was in my shop a few months ago to get her standard Brazilian wax. You know, the one where I wax the bum area. She screams bloody murder, every time. No pain tolerance. Anyway, she was letting me know how her professor helped her out to destress at school because she was close to flunking out.”

“I never said that!” Holly screeched, stomping her foot.

“Oh, so you weren’t fucking your professor?”

“I wasn’t flunking out!”

Both women laughed as I chuckled, as the chime over the door dinged as another person walked into the drugstore.

“Face it Holly, you are just a big whore like Gunner. At least he owns it. He’s been nothing but honest about what he was. And now that he’s met Sarah and moving on, you’re just pissy cause you’re gonna be the only whore left in Rosewood,” Morgan grinned, then bowed. “Long live the new Whore Queen of Rosewood. Wishing you a reign full of unexpected pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases.”

“You bitch!” Holly roared just as a gun went off.

Chapter Twenty-Three

Gunner

It was a little after three o’clock when King and the others walked into the clubhouse. Dropping their bags at the door, Frank and Priest headed straight for the bar, each grabbing a bottle of beer.

King stretched and smiled. “Thank fuck I’m home. Where is my woman?”

Getting to my feet, I said. “Probably instigating an uprising or riding her broom through town, creating havoc along the way. How the fuck should I know? I’m not her babysitter. And now that you are home, tag you’re it. I’m leaving.”

“Not so fast,” King groaned. “We need to talk.”
