"Are you in touch with Archer?" I knew all the plans were in place to protect Henry, but I wanted to make sure Ian was on top of it all.

"Yes. We’ve got men ready there as well.”

I nodded. "Good. Safe travels." I watched as a Saint Securely driver, Ian, and Henry drove out of the garage.

“You should have made him stay,” Knightly said.

I glowered at him. "I made an effort. How about you?"

He sniffed. "It's not my place."

"Did you tell Victoria to stop him? Because she didn't."

“That’s not my place either.”

My irritation at Knightly was partly because he was right. I should have made Henry stay. But short of tying Henry up, there was little I could do to stop him.

Back upstairs, I did a quick tour of the house, making sure everything was secure. Entering the kitchen, I found Mrs. Tillis preparing a tray as Caroline cooked.

“Tori is going to eat in her office,” she said.

“Is she okay?”

“She’s worried about her father, but she’s strong.”

I nodded. “I can take that up. I need to check in with her, anyway."

“Are you sure?"

"Yes." I smiled in case I was still glowering and that was why she was uncertain.

"And how about you, Mr. Sterling? Why don't you eat with us?”

“You don't have to—"

"I want to. Please.” Mrs. Tillis looked at me with hopeful eyes. How could I say no to that?

“Alright, then. Thank you. Just let me bring this to Victoria.” I picked up the tray and carried it to the elevator, worried I’d spill something if I took the stairs.

I exited on the third floor and started toward Victoria's room before remembering she was in her office. Shifting direction across the hall, I leaned into the door. "Victoria? I've got your dinner."

A few moments later, the door opened. "Roped into more duties?” She held the door open.

"I volunteered. I needed to check in with you, anyway." I set the tray on a small table in the sitting area of the bedroom. It had been Henry's father's, I think. The large, four-poster bed filled much of the room. There was also an armoire and a dresser. In the window seat sat Victoria's computer, suggesting she wasn't using the table to work... at least not today.

“Worried I was going to take off like my father?”

"Not at the moment.” I watched her for a moment as she picked up a cooked carrot, wrapping her lips around it as she bit it in half. The images that came to my mind were dirty and forbidden.

1 shifted, telling my dick to settle down. "You didn't see your dad off.”

She shrugged. "He came by and said his goodbye. I got the feeling he didn't want me there when he left. Like maybe he wanted to talk to you alone.”

I nodded.

"Things were heated between you two before. Were you able to kiss and make up?"

The word kiss had me looking at her lush lips.Fuck! Knock it off, Sterling. "We sorted things.”
