“Okay, does this mean you’re never going to tell them about me? Who am I to you?” He paused and took a deep breath. “I don’t want to be a secret. I can’t live like that.”
I shook my head. “And I don’t want you to. I will tell them. I just don’t… I don’t know how. I’m scared I’ll lose them.”
“Why would you lose them?”
“Because I’d choose you. I’ll always choose you, Edward. You’re not only my fated mate, but I….” It was my turn to release a deep breath. “I love you.”
“You love me?” Edward asked with a smile starting to form.
“As if there’s any doubt. I’m your Bunny, and you’re my Eddie. Of course I love you.”
“I love you, too!” Edward grabbed my shoulders and pulled me in for a strong hard kiss. I immediately wrapped my arms around his next and pressed into him just as hard.
“Get a room!” a voice yelled and I grinned into the kiss.
Edward slowly pulled away, and I licked my lip. I lifted my eyes, and Edward stared back at me. We didn’t need to say the words. I felt them. We loved each other. Edward grinned. “Let’s go skating and have some fun.”
I smiled back and nodded. Edward led the way down toward the rink. We made our way to the entrance, and after renting skates and putting them on, Edward helped me onto the ice. It felt strange to have blades beneath my feet, but I was eager to give it a try.
Edward held my hand firmly as we stepped onto the rink. "Remember, Bunny, just relax and trust me. I'll make sure you don't fall."
I nodded and gripped his hand tightly as we began to glide across the ice. My legs wobbled, but Edward was there beside me and held me upright. It felt awkward at first, but with every kick of our feet, my confidence grew.
We skated slowly around the rink, with Edward occasionally giving me pointers on how to balance and move smoothly. My progress was slow, but I couldn't help but smile at the thrill of it all.
As we made our way around the rink, Edward suddenly let go of my hand and gracefully performed a spin on the ice. I watched in awe as he landed perfectly before returning to my side.
"Show off," I teased, grinning at him.
He chuckled. “Not bad for an old man, huh?”
I laughed. “Not bad at all. “
Edward skated to my side and grabbed my waist, twilling us around in a circle. I laughed hard, enjoying the playful kid Edward had become. The high-powered CEO and king of the pride that carried the weight of the world was gone. This was just my carefree Eddie.
As the night went on, we continued to skate and have fun. There were a few shaky instances, but Edward, true to his word, kept me from falling—even falling himself to prevent my collapse.
“Let’s take a break,” Edward said as he guided us to the opening of the wink.
I nodded and gave a tiny wink. “Tired old man?”
Edward chuckled. “More cold than tired. I was thinking of some roasted chestnuts and hot chocolate.”
“Ooh, hot chocolate sounds good.” Edward helped me to solid ground and my legs trembled at the feeling. “Is this what they mean by sea legs?” I asked as I wobbled to the bench.
“Yeah, it can be a little uneasy coming off the ice. It’ll get better in a second.” Edward scanned the area and then peered down at me. “I’ll go grab the hot chocolates. Did you want some roasted chestnuts too?”
“I’ve never had them before,” I replied.
“Then you’re in for a treat. I’ll get us a bag. I’ll be right back. Just relax here,” he said. I nodded and watched him walk away.
“You should be ashamed of yourself.” An angry voice said.
I turned to see a tiny, older woman. She looked to be a hundred. I scowled at her, and she continued. “He’s old enough to be your father. Two men acting the way you do is bad enough.”
“He has nothing to be ashamed of, lady. Why don’t you mind your own business?” Talon said firmly.
“What another f—”
