The second the idea hits me, it grows legs fast.

That’s why JD randomly turned up that day.

He told me that he was following orders and allowed me to believe—weakly—that Victor had sent him.

But that was bullshit.

I was right. Victor didn’t give a shit about my well-being after that fight.

Alana did though.

JD was following Alana’s orders.

But why?

"Did you know that she's a whore, Mav? That Victor pimps her out to make men do as he so desires?"

No.

I refuse to believe that’s the reason she’s with them.

Reid and JD don’t have issues getting women.

There’s something else.

Something bigger.

What if they know?

What if they’ve discovered the reason I hid her all those years ago, the reason I married her?

No. It can’t be that either.

If they knew, they’d want me too.

“FUCK,” I bellow, slamming my palms down on the handlebars of my bike as I wait in the undergrowth on the other side of the road to the hidden gates that lead to Reid’s manor.

It’s no secret that he owns the place. The mystery is how to get in. If you didn’t know better, you’d go to the main gates at the front. But those are locked up like Fort Knox.

This place though. This is the spot. It’s where I followed Ezra and Ellis to earlier.

I fucking knew he’d call in a favor from them. All it took was a little patience outside their place in Maddison County and I was golden.

They brought two cars here and then left in one. And only a few hours later, my assumptions were correct when Letty drove the other car out with Kane in the passenger seat.

That should have been my cue to enter, but I was too fucking slow.

Now I’m stuck here waiting for someone else to come visit the asshole who looks down on the rest of us like he’s the fucking king of the world so that I can get inside.

The fences are too high. And even if they weren’t, I know he’s got the place covered with security. The second I even attempt to climb it, I’d trigger some kind of alarm that would have me discovered in seconds.

Night falls, leaving me in darkness. The only good thing is that I’ll see headlights and be able to get into position long before a car approaches.

Assuming one ever comes.

She’s in there though. I’m sure of it.

I don’t care how fucking long it takes. I will get inside, and I will discover the truth.
