He nods. “Of them. They are Greek mafia and rarely step foot outside of their own country. Something has brought them to New York, and I want to know what.”
He says with a deep sigh, “I must call Killian. He needs to be informed.”
I slide off his lap as he stands, heading to the window and staring down at the city, his phone no longer on silent and pressed to his ear.
I hear him say, “The Constantines are involved.”
I listen as he tells his brother everything he knows, and I have a sinking feeling inside when I sense my troubles are far from over.
They may have only just begun.
CHAPTER38
SHADE
Ileave Ally to change and relax in my penthouse, and I head off to find Kyle. Killian promised to investigate why the Constantine brothers are sniffing after Allegra, and I need to trust him. However, I’m not one to let others deal with my shit and especially not where it concerns her, so I head off to find Kyle and fill him in on Heather’s call. He says at once. “I’ll organize a team to pick her up.”
He makes the call and as I splash two shots of bourbon in the glasses, my thoughts turn to this weekend.
When he finishes, I hand him the glass and say with deepening anger. “I’m tired of these threats. I hate not knowing what is going on in my city and I want answers.”
He downs the shot in one and slams the glass on the desk. “Consider it done.”
“Don’t you have a guest this weekend?” I remember Ally’s friend is coming to town, and he shrugs. “I can cancel. It’s no big deal.”
“I thought you liked her.”
“I do but I always put business first.”
“As it happens…” I grin wickedly.
“Our business is in Washington this weekend.”
He raises his eyes and I laugh softly. “I want to get Ally out of town, and we are overdue a visit with her parents. Why don’t you catch up with her friend there?”
“You’re happy to leave town when shit is getting real?” Kyle asks, and I shrug. “They can’t do anything if the woman they’re after isn’t here. Her brother is still out of State and my brother is causing heat on them. I’d say we can enjoy our weekend and when we return, we have a party to organize.”
He shakes his head. “It will be an interesting one. I’ve already got the team on the tickets. They go live tomorrow.”
I nod. “One call from Allegra and the promotion gets underway. She can get her assistant on it and Evangeline can earn the huge fee I’m paying her.”
I stretch out and say with satisfaction.
“All we need is to fuel up the plane and pack a weekend bag. This should be fun.”

“I can’t believewe are doing this.” Allegra is nervous as we board the private jet.
“It’s long overdue.”
“I’ve only known you a week. How is it overdue?” She says incredulously and I laugh. “I move fast. Surely, you’ve realized that by now.”
“I think I have.”
She shakes her head. “You know they will be rude. Horrible, in fact.”
“I’m used to it.” I shrug. “I’m not really husband material, I get it. It doesn’t matter anyway, because they will be too busy saving their own marriage to worry about yours.”
