What the fuck? Where’s the meek and traumatized woman who came to me only days ago? She reaches for Storm who backs up into her. That dog is fucking good for her. “I have some questions to ask.”

“You can do it here, with me,” Josh says.

Tyler grinds his teeth together. “I’ll have one of the female officers come speak with...” He looks to Eliza, waiting for her to tell him her name.

“Eliza,” she says.

“Eliza who?”

Eliza clears her throat and drops her chin. Shit. “Sacco,” she nearly whispers.

“Eliza Sacco?” Tyler turns to look at me and cocks a brow. “She’s a bit young for you don’t you think?” So she’s definitely not on their radar, which is a good thing. But the fucker better watch his mouth or he might end up with his teeth down his throat. Tyler can see I’m having a reaction to his words. “I know mafia made men like to take young brides, make sure they’re virgins, but even for you, that’s a bit sick.”

I hold onto my control—barely—and smile over at him. “You’ve been watching too many mafia movies. Besides, I’m simply a business man running legitimate companies.” I give him a knowing wink.

Fucker.

“How many times do we do this dance, Sacco?”

“The one where you invade my home, raid it, find nothing, and leave with your tail between your legs? Let’s see it’s been how many times, Josh?”

“Six sounds like an accurate number.” He taps a finger to his chin. “Maybe even seven. And fun fact with that, I’m always here for breakfast when you decide to ransack my client’s house,” he responds with sarcasm. “Bacon?” he offers Tyler.

“He doesn’t get any,” I say.

Tyler rolls his eyes, then turns to Eliza. “A female agent will be speaking with you soon.”

“So you’ve already said,” Eliza replies with snark.

Tyler runs his tongue over his teeth and turns, leaving the dining room when he figures out none of us will cooperate with him. I walk over to Eliza and run my hand up and down her back. “You’re amazing.”

“I hate bullies,” she says. “I’ll speak with a female agent.”

“No, you won’t,” I say.

“Ruben,” Josh says to get my attention. When I turn to him, he glances at Eliza. “I think it might be a good idea to let her speak to an agent, because they might tip their hat at what they want. I’ll be with her and make sure she doesn’t say anything incriminating.”

I purse my lips together and look between them. Before I have a chance to reply, Tyler returns. “Why is there a fire on your property?”

“There is?” I lift my shoulders. “Your guess is as good as mine.”

“Are you hiding something?”

I look to Josh and grin. “I’m preparing for a bonfire. You’re not invited.”

Tyler puffs out his chest and points at me. “Fuck you, Sacco.”

“I’d be careful, Tyler, that sounds like harassment to me,” Josh says. “You wouldn’t want my client to make an official complaint about you, would you? A respected businessman being harassed by one of the FBI’s golden agents.” Josh lifts a piece of crispy bacon and bites it. “Mmm, bacon.”

Tyler’s nostrils flare as he stares hard at Josh before flicking a look of revulsion toward me. A female FBI officer appears, someone I haven’t met yet. She must be new. “Eliza, this is FBI Agent Wilson.”

“Oh, hello,” Josh says and stands to his feet. “I didn’t catch your name.” He wipes his hands down his pants, buttons his suit jacket, and holds his hand out to her, all while trying to act calm.

“Agent Wilson.” With a deadpan glint in her eyes, she looks to his extended hand and arches a brow.

“I need your first name, in case we have to sue you.” Josh shoves his hands into his pockets.

“Adele Wilson,” she replies with no emotion. “Mrs. Sacco, I’d like to ask you a few questions. Is there somewhere more comfortable for you or would you prefer we go back to the station?”
