“Find them, and bring them to me.”
“Yes, boss,” the men answered in unison, then they left. My brothers followed them.
“Sergey.” Lilianna unhid herself from the corner of the office where I’d hidden her. Throwing her arms around me, she placed her head on my chest.
I raked my finger into her hair and planted soft kisses on the top of her head. “It’s over, moy tsvetok. You’re safe now, and so is our baby.”
She moved back, her eyes darting up to meet mine. “I’m glad we’re both safe.”
Before I could reply, she snatched my gun, shoved me out of the way, and pulled the trigger. Twice.
Turning back, I found Giulia clutching her chest to keep her blood from spouting in the part Lilianna shot her. Her eyes were red with malice, sparking with tears and a little bit of sadness.
She sank on the wall and slowly cascaded to the floor, her gaze still fixed on Lilianna. “You… you…”
Lilianna walked to her and lifted her hand, removing a diamond ring that looked just like the one I’d slid into her finger when we got married. “The first two shots were for me and Sergey.” She pointed the gun at Lilianna. “This one is for my baby.” She fired another shot, and Giulia went limb, her green eyes still malicious even in her death.
I ambled over to Lilianna. I took the gun from her and embraced her. “How did you learn to shoot a gun like that?”
She lifted her gaze to me and flashed a smile at me. “I’m your wife. Remember?”
I pinned two fingers on her jaw and clashed my lips with hers, kissing her deeply. I’d almost lost my shit, thinking I would lose her. All I wanted to do right now was absorb every inch of sweetness in her mouth.
Pulling away, I returned her smile. “Yes, you are.”
“Found him the rat, brother.”
I whirled my head over to Nikolai, and a wicked smile pulled my lips when I saw Giovanni was with him. It was time for justice.
“Take my wife to the car.”
Maxim and Vlad lead Lilianna to the car. I stared long and hard at Giovanni, thinking of the best way to take my revenge. “What did I tell you, Giovanni?”
“I don’t give a fuck. Kill me and get it over with.”
My smirk knew no bounds as I lowered myself to a squat in front of him. “Not so fast. Your daughter died a quick death, but I won’t be so merciful towards you.”
Slowly, he drifted his head to where Giulia’s dead body was. “Noooo,” he cried, his voice laced with pain. “You killed my daughter.”
“You killed my parents,” I reminded him. “And you dared to hurt my wife and child.” Cocking my gun, I shot one of his legs.
A wail erupted from his chest, and it was fucking satisfying.
I waited for him to come around before I shot his other leg and drank his screams like scotch. “Your worst mistake was underestimating me, Giovanni. Your arrogance has cost you your life in the end.”
Terror flashed through his eyes, and it looked good as hell on his. “Fuck you.”
I smirked. Entertaining as this was, Lilianna was waiting for me outside. I couldn’t waste any more of my time on this demented old fuck.
Another ringing of my gun and a bullet dug a hole in Giovanni’s head. He died with a thud to the ground. “Adios, old friend. Till we meet in hell. Or not.”
Chapter 30 - Lilianna
The mansion felt too big and empty without Sergey in it. After the fight with the Italians, he’d been too busy trying to make new allies and strengthening his territory. A week had passed since he traveled back to Russia for business, and there was another week left before he returned.
Eva came to visit whenever she had free time, and although I was happy to see her, it didn’t do much to soothe my yearning for Sergey.
Grabbing a book from the stack of law textbooks he got me shortly before he traveled, I went downstairs to the patio and grabbed a seat. Propping my legs on one of the coffee tables, I started to flip the pages, but it was hard to focus when all I could think of was Sergey.
