“I just ran and fought a little. You did the rest.”

“You let me. That was maybe the greatest part. I can’t imagine that was great for you.”

I turned over to see him better, then sat up, which wasn’t easy, as I ached so nicely, I nearly got hard again. “It was better than great. I like rough sex too, Rick. I was in the BDSM lifestyle long before I met you.”

“I always forget that.”

I remembered some of his words during the night, so I asked about them. “What show were you talking about and what did you mean about us going to Cowpokes?”

We hadn’t gone the last time it was open, right before the snow started. It would be open again in two weeks, but I hadn’t planned to go again. Clover and another man had started doing the shows I no longer did.

“I…want to see you dancing. And not only that but seeing how the men lusted after you was hard…then. Now, I know you’re coming home with me. Does that make any sense?”

“Of course it does. You’re new to this, Rick. Your jealousy came when you weren’t sure about us, or really about yourself. You’re fully into being with a man now, you have your man, so the insecurity is gone. Now you want to see other men lust after me, because you’ll be there to whisk me away to our bed.”

Rick smiled dreamily. “You’re completely right. I am so proud of you, Kanan, proud to be with you. I thought…I hate admitting this, but I thought I’d want to hide away from the world, not letting anyone know I was bisexual. Now, I can’t even believe I felt that way. You’re everything, Kanan, and Iamproud to be with you.”

I warmed all over and forgot that I was being denied an orgasm because the feeling in my heart had been plenty enough for me. “I’m proud of being with you, Rick.”

“So, I don’t know if you even can go back on stage, but maybe speak to Burke?”

“I will tomorrow. I’m sure he’s fine with it. He understood about being in a relationship. I’ll have to practice. I haven’t danced in a while.”

“You dance like a butterfly, Kan. It’s amazing, the way your body moves, so fluid. It’s enchanting.”

I settled on his chest, kissing there. “I am nothing compared to my parents. I’m not putting myself down or anything, but they lived it, all the time. Certain moves they’d make? I remember my mother practicing the dances for months. They were intricate and precise, but you could never tell by watching her. It was as if it just came from inside her, like each move was natural for her. Dad, too, but Mom, she was special.”

“I’d love to see them perform. Do you have their movies?”

“I do on a flash drive. I used to have them on VHS, then DVD, but I lost them to an old boyfriend when he stole all my movies after we broke up while I was still in college.”

“What an ass.”

I kissed him again and whispered, “I’ll dance for you anytime, Rick. I hope you know that.”

“Soon. Right now, relax and let me take care of you. Then we’ll sleep.”

“Together. Only together.”

Chapter Twenty-Nine

BurkewasdelightedthatI wanted to return for at least one more night of shows at Cowpokes. He sent Joel over to help me out a few days before the open weekend.

The snow was incredible, having dumped two feet of the white stuff that Monday, and Rick, Joel, Chandler and I all got busy helping the grounds people get the place dug out. Rick looked good that day, red cheeks under his stocking cap, eyes shining in the reflection of the snow.

Joel got to know him a bit better, so he wasn’t as shy, actually speaking to him at least a few words.

Still, while we worked, Joel was near me and far from Rick. Of course, that might have been his way of gossiping. “Damned ol’ dog o’ mine near bit that new mailman, but Theo was there and flirted with the guy.”

“Is the new mailman gay?”

“Don’ thin’ so. Theo’s purty ‘nough, though, I don’ think it matters none.”

I laughed at that, as Theo was very pretty. “How is he, Hud, shoot, everyone? I’ve been here so much, I haven’t seen anyone.”

“Yeah, I know it! Miss ya.”

“Miss you too, Joel, and now that you’re getting to know Rick, maybe you’ll come to visit more.”
