Page 13 of Sinful Addiction
Honestly, the moment their accountant sees something extravagant on the accounts he snitches, and they ask questions. Then they follow up with using that as an excuse to criticize me for my ‘erratic behavior’.There is nothing erratic about it.I’m living my life and if that means I need to fly cross-country, then that is exactly what I am going to do.
I huff in annoyance.
One drama brings forth them all.
Having determined the final verdict, I take hold of my belongings and roll my suitcase behind me in pursuit of the entrance door so I can break free.
As I pull the door inward, Ava and Xander stand on the other side, having a hushed conversation.
“And where do you think you’re off to?”Ava demands.
Busted.
Ava has an amused look about her, like she is about to cause trouble of her own, while Xander stands behind her with his unreadable expression and arms crossed over his chest as if to hold me responsible for what happens next.
“Um, I was leaving?”
Xander steps out from behind his wife, walks past the both of us and through the door of our suite.I do the one thing expected of me by him and let his wife follow, then close the door, abandoning my luggage to follow them both inside.
He abruptly holts, then spins on his heel startling me and Ava.I don’t want to antagonize him, so I keep my mouth shut and wait for the dissatisfaction coming my way.
“I haven’t a lot of time before Tony comes looking for you.I think leaving is best for everyone.”
We’re both rendered surprised.
“This nonsense between you and Tony needs to end. He’s distracted and I can’t have him off his game.I have already made arrangements for a car to collect you.”
Ava picks this moment to go all badass villainess on Xander.“You mean you had the plane on standby this whole time hoping this trip wouldn’t work out for us?More specifically, for Lacey. You know what, Alexander, you can go fuck yourself because you aren’t getting any from me.I’m going with her!”She pushes past him and storms to her room.
“I didn’t—” I start to apologize and explain, but he holds his hand up to silence me.
“I don’t want an explanation.I want you gone.”
I’m left standing in the living room with my arms wrapped around my waist and a sense of vulnerability smothering me.
As much as I want to hate Xander, I know he’s right.I’m a distraction. All I’m ever good for is a fun time, not a long time. With that in mind, I decide to cut all ties with Antonio. It’ll be easier to protect myself that way.I only wish my heart didn’t hurt so badly.
Six
Antonio
I’m currently watching a man win a small fortune at a blackjack table.A fortune he will soon be denied. He looks like someone from a TV show with his greasy, slicked back hair, imitation Oxfords, a cheap as shit suit, which tells me he didn’t come here starting out with a big fat wad of cash.
I’ve sat in my booth for over two hours watching him, plotting every way I’m going to make him pay with blood.
It doesn’t take a scientist to know the fucker is swindling.
I’m currently sitting in a booth on my own while Xander and Silas watch from the control room.I’ve also had the silver tin out a time or two, amping myself up for his impending doom.
As I scan the room, I see Xander walking toward the casino entrance like nothing is amiss, however his subtle nod signals he has all the information he needs.I give him a few minutes to walk out of sight before making a move.
My sadistic grin is in place.I’m excited and ready to play.
As I near the smug idiot, Iaccidentallyfall into him and knock his pile of chips over.
“Watch it, asshole.”His whole demeanor changes as he catches me glowering at him.His skin pales further when he sees the two security guards towering over my shoulders. He tries to back away from us, but the table stops him.He realizes his mistake the moment I open my mouth.
“It’s such a shame. You were doing so well.”I tilt my head toward the thief, letting the security take the piece of shit into custody.“Take him out back. We’re going for a little ride.I’ll join you shortly.”
