“He told me you’d run to me without them. You must really care for your side piece, huh?”She runs her finger along the rubber sill of the door like she’s inspecting for dust as she waits for me to get out.

“I’ll give him credit. He has good taste.I mean, if I was into women, I’d totally be into your honey pot.But unfortunately for you I’m not, and besides, I’m being paid a lot of money to deliver you.”

Every limb turns to stone.I might as well have taken my last breath of air.

“What are you playing at, Jordannah?”

“I’m not playing, honey.I’m simply changing the rules.”Her cryptic words don’t make sense.

Before I can retaliate, someone grabs me from behind, strong arms encasing me.I’m defenseless against them and they know it.

“You’re making a big mistake. They won’t let you do this, and when Antonio finds out that you turned on him, he’ll end you,” I threaten.

“It’s too late for that. He’s as good as dead.”She turns her attention to the person restraining me.“Get her tied up and into the SUV.Make sure no one follows us.”Jordannah signals.

My arms are pulled behind my back putting extra strain on my shoulders. The plastic tie is cutting off my circulation, making my arms tingle.A cool metal cuts into the skin around my ankle, but the chains allow me to move as I’m now being pushed toward a blacked-out SUV.Everything, including the windows, make it look like something out of the presidential fleet.

I stupidly walked into her trap.

I’ve not only jeopardized my life, but Antonio’s, too.

I might as well start praying because I have no idea what this psycho bitch has planned for me next.

Right before the door encloses me inside the vehicle, the man who tied me up climbs in beside me.As I look into his eyes, I struggle to find any humanity. All I see are shadows and death. If that didn’t scare me alone, the size of him sure does. He’s easily six foot tall as he slouches forward in the seat.

Jordannah slides into the driver's seat, snapping her head in our direction.

I’m too slow to register.

A sturdy hand covers my nose and mouth with a cloth, muffling my cries.

“Goodnight, princess.”

Jordannah’s voice is the last I hear as the chemical I inhale makes me choke and takes me under.

Thirty-One

Antonio

Gusts of laughter then scurried whispers echo around me.The last thing I remember was being knocked out by my traitorous brother.

I try to keep myself from being noticed as I become aware of my surroundings.I desperately want to stretch out the ache in my jaw, but even that will alert them to my conscious state.

I mentally check for new injuries and luckily don’t find anything other than the burning sensations around my wrists and ankles from being tied to the chair.

Keeping my breathing evened out, I listen to decipher how many bodies are in this building and their proximity to me.Helpless or not, it’s best to be prepared.

I’m counting down my time until Darius turns on him and I’m set free.I’ll tolerate whatever I need to ensure this plan isn’t foiled. No one tells me when my time ends.

Footsteps scuff along the floor becoming louder as they approach.

I can feel the heat of another as they stand over me.It takes everything I have not to open my eyes and lash out. However, this person has other plans.

Ice cold water showers me, which makes my head lift and I stare directly into the eyes of the sick bastard who wants me here.

“Nice of you to finally join us.”Reginald’s snarky comment is followed by a sadistic grin.

It takes all my strength not to bite back at this asshole. The longer I’m in this chair unharmed, the closer I am to ruining this fuckface’s evening.
