Adam rests his head on his hand, and I step out of the bed. “Sounds like something you could continue through the holidays as well.”

“And we can expand it to couples at Valentine’s Day and families at any time.” I walk to the bathroom. “The only hard part is sorting through all the emails and getting them ready to print.”

“I’ll make coffee.” He walks into the bathroom where I stand naked, about to step into the shower, and he wraps his arms around me, holding my back to his chest facing the mirror and placing his hands on the scars above my waist. “You are so beautiful. I’m going to carry you back to bed.”

“No!” I laugh, turning in his arms and cupping his cheeks so I can kiss his soft lips. “I have to get to work.”

Large hands cover my ass, and he gives me a squeeze. “You know I have enough money to sponsor whatever you need. Just say the word.”

“I like figuring it out. TheGazetteis my baby, and the town really supports it.”

“They support you.” He kisses my shoulder, and I’m getting used to my new life pretty fast.

Acceptance, honesty, forgiveness.

Okay, I’m still working on that last one.

The boys areat the bar with their heads together over Adam’s iPad laughing. Music plays, and they bounce in their chairs.

“Watch him jump over that pole!” Owen yells.

“He jumped right on that man’s shoulder!” Ryan reaches up to scrub Fudge’s head. “Think you could do that, boy?”

The cat stands beside them watching me with bright yellow eyes.

“What are you watching?” I walk over to look at the small screen. “Is that…”

“It’s Didga, the skateboarding cat!” Ryan grabs my arm, pulling me closer. “Watch him jump over that dog!”

The board rolls between the legs of a giant Rottweiler, and the gray tabby jumps over his back.

“Whaaat?” I squint, looking for signs of computer generation. “Is that a trick?”

“It sure is, and I’m going to teach Fudge how to do it!” Ryan playfully pushes Owen’s shoulder. “He can jump over Edward.”

“If you can get Edward to stand up long enough.” I walk over to get a cup of coffee. “Go brush your teeth. It’s almost time for school.” Adam is frowning at his phone near the toaster. “Everything okay?”

He slides the device into his pocket fast and smiles. “Hey.”

“That wasn’t suspicious. What’s up?”

“Just Chuck saying he can’t start for a few days.” He wraps his arm around my shoulders, kissing the top of my head. “Last job went over.”

“I’m okay with us being here a little longer. Especially now that you made a place for Ryan.”

“Of course. Ryan should be with his family, and I think you should be here permanently.”

My breath stills, and I blink up at him, a huge smile fighting to split my cheeks. “But what about my little house?”

“Eureka does have a shortage of rentals, and real estate is a solid investment.”

Chewing my lip, I can’t stop my smile. “A publisher and a landlord?”

That gets me another, longer kiss. “You’re a mogul.”

A laugh snorts through my nose. The toaster pops, and the boys run into the room again to grab their Pop-Tarts. Owen has his skateboard in hand, and Ryan has Fudge on his shoulder.
