“Got it,” I grind out.
He stares at me, and my eyes burn with hatred.
“Thanks, Dad. I’ll make sure he goes down,” she tries to placate.
“Of course, you will.” Without another word, he turns around to leave, but not before he stops, shakes his head, and then goes down the stairs.
Melanie runs in front of me and softly shuts the door.In what stupid universe does this man live in to make him think keeping us both in the same room was a good idea? He’s probably setting me up to take me out. He’s got something up his sleeve, and I’m going to find out what it is and make sure he goes down with me. Then, Melanie can be mine. She’s already fucking mine, he just doesn’t know it yet.
She turns and peeks from behind her curls over her shoulder. I give her a smile and it makes fear radiate off her in waves. Little precious doesn’t realize it only makes me hunger for more.
Chapter Six
Melanie
It’s been a week since the incident that shall not be named. Over a week since I’ve caught Jaiden and that other guy. He hasn’t mentioned it, so I don’t either. Still, I can’t help but replay the scene in my mind over and over when he’s not around me.
Is Jaiden gay?
But he kissed you.
He also told me to call him by another name. What the hell is going on? Who the fuck is Jada?
“Did you hear about what happened?” The sound of Yesi’s voice pulls me back into the moment.
“No, what?”
“Rumor has it, Jaiden is bi.”
My ears perk up. I mean, this would make sense, right? Things start falling into place in my mind like lost puzzle pieces finding their perfect home.
“You sure about that? I’ve been trying to get his attention for a fucking year, and he doesn’t give me the time of day.” Claire’s voice cuts into our conversation and the rest of the girls muffle their snickers.
What. The. Actual.Fuck?
I glare at Claire, and she has the audacity to just shrug her shoulders.A whole damn year. She’s never mentioned anything, not even once. She acts like she thinks he’s a freak like everyone else. Is this what she does behind my back? I mean, is this why he’s so good at kissing and …
Images of Claire with her legs open and Jaiden between them have me throwing my half-filled water bottle right at her face. She barely dodges in time, and it makes my blood boil.
“What the fuck, Melanie? What the hell is your problem?” she screeches.
What’s my problem? My problem? “Stay the fuck away from my brother.”
“Shit, I do, now. That freak can go jump off a bridge for all I care.”
I tackle her off the bench and all I can hear are the other girls screaming. My fists land on her face a few times before my rage overflows and my hands grab her hair and slam the back of her head into the pavement. She struggles and screams, but I scream too, overtaking her cries.
“What the fuck is happening?” someone yells out.
“I don’t know, Melanie just went nuts!”
My nails scratch at her face as she tries to knee me. She screams again and my heart jumps with elation.Jaiden won't look at her now. No, no one will.
Strong arms come around me and I scream bloody murder, my legs kicking her fucking shins before I’m too far away. I struggle enough to slip from the embrace and land another fist into her face, stunning her.
The arms grab me again, firmly, but it’s the familiar growl that makes me stop. Jaiden pulls me back away from the growing crowd, grabs my hand, and pulls me down the empty halls. Some of the teachers are running the opposite way as we both dip our heads down and walk faster.
The adrenaline is making me feelthings. My senses are heightened as Jaiden leads us out of the school grounds around the back. He jumps onto the ledge of a brick wall and leans over with his arms extended for me. I’m living in the moment, my arms reaching out for his, and we both jump down to the other side.
