I nodded, then climbed to my feet. My cock was limp now, and dripping with my cum from the orgasm I had. My body still tingled from the pleasure. I was always impressed to see Théoden fighting, but this time I was especially grateful that he was quick to defend me. I picked up my sword and continued to fight. I heard more vampires scream and saw the dragon I knew to be Tylendel coming toward us, his eyes glowing bright green the entire time. He was with two more vampires. Théoden's sons, I was sure. I think one was called Noel; I didn’t know the other. They were doing some damage to the vampires who were attacking us.

I cried out when a vampire cut me with his sword and Noel came up slashing his nails across the vampire’s throat. I finished him off, punching hard enough to break his neck, twisting his head all the way around. I knew that wouldn’t kill him. I took his sword out of my stomach. He had nearly gotten me, fuck. I used his sword to slice through his head before he could heal. Now, I had two swords and I sliced through the vampires, which was one of my favorite ways to fight. Royce was a master at fighting, and two swords was something he had trained me in until it was ingrained in me. And Winston, in his cruelty, had taught me the savagery of battle and how to stay focused in the midst of it. He also taught me how to fight with as much brutality as possible.

I turned in time to see Théoden get slammed against the wall. He grunted and I looked to see who the fuck had tossed him, because that wasn’t easy. Before me stood a vampire with long, black hair and sharp fangs and claws. Théoden rose to his feet and swung his sword at the vampire, who caught the blade in his leather covered hands, then cracked it in two. How the fuck had he done that? His sword was made from dragon’s bone! Théoden kicked the vampire, then punched him, but his blows weren’t having any effect, as the vampire simply absorbed each blow.

Holy shit, was this Alexander? Was this what a vampire Royal was, this powerful like Ara?

He swung, his fist striking Théoden across the jaw so hard, Théoden spun around and, before he could fall, the vampire caught him and sank his fangs into Théoden's neck. It was all happening so fast, but I knew I had to help Théoden. I rammed a vampire out of my way and charged toward the vampire I was sure was Alexander if he was that strong. Before I could reach him, I felt an invisible force blow me back. He’d released his aura and the damn thing blasted me down the tunnel with its sheer force. My head slammed against the concrete and I groaned from the pain. The scenery rotated in my vision as I fell on top of bodies, my vision blurry, my head spinning. Damn, what the fuck? Everything went black.

Chapter eighteen

Ara

Ifelttheburstof energy wash over me and I knew who had released it. The vampires who’d been fighting me flew down the tunnel, having been caught by the blast. I braced myself, letting the power of Alexander’s aura pass over me. More of his vampires came into the tunnel and rushed at me. I kicked the vampire who was in front of me, the fucking pest, and sent him flying down the tunnel. So many had converged on me as if they were just trying to keep me from Théoden. They were all around me now and I punched several of them out of my way enough to see Théoden in the clutches of Alexander’s grip.

“Nooo!” I yelled and released the energy of my aura I’d also been holding in. The vampires who had surrounded me flew in all directions, clearing a path. I rushed to Alexander and he put Théoden before me. He held my son's arms behind his back with one hand and had my child on his knees. Théoden was bleeding from the bite wounds in his neck, so I knew Alexander had fed on him, weakening him.

“Watch as I kill your favorite son,” Alexander said.

“You’re next,” I warned.

He cocked an eyebrow. “Oh, I don’t think so. My army is vast, Ara, fifty thousand strong. More are coming to kill every vampire and ally you have who was foolish enough to align themselves with you.”

Fifty thousand fucking vampires, the bastard!

“You will lose, Alexander, you know this,” I said.

“I don’t believe I will. You see, Ara, I’m going to take back everything you took from me and there isn’t going to be a damn thing you can do about it.”

“How did you become this powerful? Tell me!” I demanded to know.

“Oh, I’m sure you do want to know. But I’ll never tell you. And when I’m done with you and your allies, I’m going to kill all the other Royals who ever sided with you,” Alexander said.

Kill us. So, we really weren’t linked.

“Why? Territory battles are just something that we do,” I said as my way to distract him.

He scoffed. “Oh, go fuck yourself Ar–”

I took a chance of his gloating to leap at him, using my speed, which was equal to his, or rather, it used to be. It was enough to force him to release Théoden. We went rolling down the tunnel and over bodies as we fought. I clawed at Alexander as he clawed at me, but he was stronger than I was and he grabbed my wrist, breaking it with his new strength.

“Ahhhhh,” I screamed and he slammed his head into mine, causing the back of my head to smash into the cement floor, cracking it and my skull. More pain shot through my head, making me reel and moan.

I felt a wave of nausea coiling inside of me along with an agony I’d never experienced. Before I could recover, I felt Alexander’s fangs sink into my neck and his dual venoms entered me. He pulled back, laughing as he rose to his feet.

“Now to watch you die,” Alexander said. “Oh, I’ve waited two hundred years for this moment, Ara.”

“No,” I saw Théoden crawling toward me, tears in his eyes.

My body felt cold even as sweat broke out over me and I choked on my own vomit as it erupted from my mouth. I shivered and everything hurt so badly, it was torment, like ice and fire had replaced my blood and was freezing me and melting me at the same time. Alexander’s laughter was haunting me and I couldn’t believe it was the last thing I’d ever hear.

“Die, Ara, you arrogant son of a bi–Ahhhh!” I heard Alexander scream and looked up to see his body set ablaze with white fire.

“No, Ty, don’t kill him,” Théoden called out in his weakened state.

The fire extinguished, but Alexander had been brought to his knees, his body charred like a piece of meat left too long on a grill. Ty was by my side, sliding a needle into my arm and I felt immediate relief from the poison that was flowing in my veins.

“Drink,” Deacon said, holding out his wrist.
