“Yes.”
He frowned, and I ticked my head, telling him to check it out.
“There’s a bag on the counter,” he informed me as he disappeared around the corner that led into the kitchen. “You want me to bring it in there?”
“Sure.”
Rowen shook her head and buried her face in my neck. “I don’t want to see it again.”
See what?
“Yeah, bring it, Ex.” I lowered my voice. “You don’t have to look, Ro. Just stay right there. Yeah?”
“Okay.”
With a gentle caress, I brushed my fingers up and down her spine, wrapping the blanket tightly around her body. She didn’t feel as cold as she had when I first found her, which soothed my Reaper a little.
Ex sat across from me. “Now?”
“Open it.”
He untied the bag and cursed. “There are a dozen photos in here. Someone has been watching you, Rowen, and Jacob.”
Fuck. Even my boy?
“You’re not gonna like these images, brother. They’re private.” He whistled low. “Fuck. Man, this isn’t good. She’s being threatened.”
“By who?”
“That I can’t say. No names. No identifiers.”
My lip lifted in a snarl. “What are you not showing me?”
“There’s a severed finger in here.”
His gaze met mine. His Reaper rippled across his features, and the skeletal mask dominated his face for several seconds before receding.
“A woman’s finger. At least, I think so. Dainty. Manicured. The nail looks like a woman’s.”
Our gaze collided. Where was the rest of this woman?
“She’s gone,” Rowen cried as her shoulders shook. Tears dripped from her eyes onto my skin and scalded my soul with her heartbreak.
“Ro, baby, who?”
“Kate. My best friend. Hekilledher.”
Jesus. Was this the secret she kept?
“Tell me everything. It doesn’t help you or Jacob to keep this hidden any longer.”
“Dag, Kate’s boyfriend, and his best friend, Killer. They shot her.”
Dag? Killer?
Exorcist jumped to his feet. “Scorpions?”
That was my thought. How the fuck did two Bloody Scorpions MC members find my woman? “How long have you known them?”
