But maybe I should hang on for my aunt. I might still have some epic art waiting to burst forth from my black soul, too. That’s enough of a reason to stay, isn’t it? Also, there’s this sad, sarcastic, adorable guy I met at a bar. I told him I’d help him cross off a bunch of things on his Ex-Mormon bucket list. I want to see his story unfold. Plus, I like his laugh. His eyes are fine, too.

I left the Mormon church, divorced my wife of twelve years, and booked a trip to a random city in Colorado. Awesome idea. I’ve never felt so lost and terrified yet so excited to discover a life I actually want. Then I meet the goddess with the purple hair. Thea immediately sends my head spinning and my heart pounding in the best possible way. We can add that to the mile-long list of things I’ve never experienced. It’s ridiculous to hope that someone so effortlessly cool and beautiful could fall for a messed-up ex-cult member like me.
