Ice sighed, “Not as good as I hoped he would be. Smoke has fitted him with a new enhanced leg and was able to join a new arm for him. They are still working to clean up the nerves and bone on his other two limbs, then they will attach the other two. I do not see the same male as he was before. The light in his eyes is gone.”

“When can I go see him?”

“It will still be a few days. He is in surgery most of the day and resting at night. Once he is fitted with the new enhancements, I will take you to speak with him. Perhaps that will help.”

Another gentle pulse came from the band around her wrist, making her reach for it. It has been happening every few minutes for the last two days. Amy had been concerned that maybe Kisma or Maku may be ill, but they had assured her that they were fine.

Reaching out to them, she again asked what was wrong, only to get a wave of warmth up her arms.

Taking another sip of her drink, Amy turned back to watch the men train. She and Ice spoke of all kinds of stuff, from how they built this compound, to Ice’s time in the military. Amy told Ice about Earth, her family and her life before she was taken.

About an hour later, the men ended their training and walked towards them. She smiled when she met the eyes of her mates. They look so darn handsome in the midday sun, their bare chests covered in a fine sheen of sweat and their eyes glowing.

Iron moved to sit beside Ice, taking her glass and drinking down her drink in one long sip.

Cole bent, placing a soft kiss to her lips, before grabbing her glass from her hands. He winked at her, then drank down half. He handed the other half to Cane, who gulped it down, then bent and gave her a sweet-lipped kiss.

Emi and Tope bowed their heads and they passed them, both beasts panting, before she heard a loud splash and a soft scream from behind. She spun to find the two creatures rolling in the small pond, a poor house worker standing beside the pond, soaked from head to toe.

The woman scowled at the creatures, shaking her head as she wiped water off her face, before she moved back to the flower bed she was tending to.

“How did they do?” Amy asked when Cane and Cole settled down beside her.

“Well. They are natural hunters. We are training to learn to fight together. To know each other's strengths and weaknesses.”

“And?”

“Emi always whips her tail before she strikes,” Iron said. “It's a sign that gives away her attack. We have been teaching her not to do it. Tope showed us how to take down a night beast quickly. They have a weak spot between their ears that if hit hard enough, blinds them for a moment. They are fine warriors.”

A pleased smile spread over her lips. Yes, they were.

“How is the search for the human’s going?” Amy asked, placing a hand onto each male’s leg.

After she had sent Kisma and Maku to search the fortress, they had come back and told her that there is a part of the underground caverns they could not get into. The rest of the fortress had been mapped out, including the number of Korok soldiers that lived there.

“Lace and Sena will be going out later to see if they can find a way in without being seen.” Cane said.

“If anyone can find a way in, it's Lace,” Cole joked, pouring more pink drink into her glass.

“Once we have the information of how to breach the fortress, we will begin making plans to enter.” Iron said.

“God, I hope we find them. I don’t even want to think about what could be happening to them.”

“They would not be hurt,” Cane assured her, “If they are to be given as payment to the Zelosians, then they will need to be presentable.”

“What would the Zelosians do with them?”

Everyone stayed quiet, each sharing a look.

“What?” Amy pushed.

Cane sighed, “If the humans are male, they will be put to work in the ice mines. They will be forced to carve out the tunnels they use to expand their city.”

“And if they are female?”

Everyone’s face fell.

“Oh, God.”
