Amy bit her lip. “I’m… pregnant.”

Cane and Cole paled to an almost white color. They both just stared at her, eyes wide, mouths open.

She gave them a shy smile, feeling even more awkward at the fifty sets of eyes locked on her.

“How?” Cole asked.

Amy rolled her eyes, “Well, when a man and a woman love each other…”

Cole’s eyes narrowed, “I know how. I meant… how do you know?”

“Kisma knew the moment it happened. That's what those pulses were. She was checking on them.”

“Them?” Cane breathed, swaying a little.

Amy nodded and raised two fingers in the air. She gave them a little wiggle, then dropped her hand to her lap.

“Are you sure?” Cane asked, his voice quiet and filled with emotion.

She smiled. “Yes. Kisma just showed me the two little beans in my tummy.”

She reached out and grabbed both men’s hands and pressed them to her belly.

Cole closed his eyes for a moment, lowering his head. When he looked up at her, his eyes shimmered as he asked, “Are they… Are they joined?”

She shook her head. “No. They’re perfect. Kisma tells me they are going to be just fine.”

She jumped when the loud roar of all the warriors cheering erupted in the room.

Tears burned her eyes when she saw the love and joy shining in both men’s gazes. Cane stood, pulling her up and into his arms in a tight hug. She threw her arms around his neck, burying her face in his shirt as more cheers came from the crowd.

A moment later, she was spun in his arms and Cole was there, drawing her close and kissing her deeply.

When he put her down, Ice came over, giving her a big hug. Iron followed. She was engulfed in the huge male’s arms as he held her for a moment longer.

When he let her go, he turned to the gathering of warriors and called, “Tonight we celebrate!”

Chapter Twenty-Seven

Cane stayed close to Amy’s side all evening. Now that she was carrying their children, he wasn’t going to let her out of his sight. In the back of his mind, he knew that wouldn’t be possible, not with him and Cole having to get back to their duties and work on finding the missing humans, but his instincts were telling him that he needed to protect her. To be there for her in case she needed anything.

They moved through the crowd as Cole introduced her to one warrior after another. She laughed, talked, and heard all kinds of stories about the brothers from their friends. He was glad to see her nerves were easing. He hated to see her so uncomfortable in her new home.

Wine and liquor flowed by the barrel as they all ate, chatted, and asked Amy hundreds of questions about her world, about the beasts, the symbiotes and how she got here.

Cane started to relax as they sat at the table next to Dio and Lace. The men were talking about a mission they went on a few years ago, while Amy listened intently to the exciting story.

An ear-splitting scream filled the room, making all the warriors jump to their feet.

Cane scanned the hall, looking for where it had come from. His eyes landed on the doorway leading into the rest area outside the eating hall. One of the females that worked in the gardens stumbled in, her midsection stained with dark blue blood.

Warriors rushed to her as she fell to her knees.

“What happened?” Iron called as he ran towards the door.

The explosion that followed sent the male flying back. He soared through the air until his heavy body slammed into one of the pillars that held up the roof of the main hall.

Cane threw himself around Amy as rubble rained down around them. Smoke burned his nose and eyes, making him cough, as hard pieces of stone hit his back and legs.
