I know it’s my fault for coming to his wedding knowing he will be here kissing his fiancé.

He’s not yours.

I know it’s my fucking fault for leaving him and ruining what we had.

But God I hated that.

It actually broke my heart knowing that another girl's lips touched his.

Hayden sighs before walking away.

“Brother?” I look up and see Jamie looking at me while cleaning a glass.

“No, ex,” I say, still holding onto the glass.

Jamie raises his eyebrows. “That’s your ex? Isn’t he a professional fighter?” I nod my head. “He lost an amazing girl then.”

“I broke up with him,” I say, while wincing. “Can I just get something else? Maybe something stronger?” I rest the empty glass in front of me.

Jamie laughs before taking it and walking away.

“You guys have to make things so hard.” I turn my head and look at Max who looks like he is getting close to being blacked out.

His hair is a mess and his face is flushed.

Where is Martin?

How’d he get drunk so fast?

“Where is everyone?” I ask looking around.

“Chris and Natalia are dancing. Kayden left with Hayden to go see Hayden’s other friends. Nicole and her friends went to the VIP area and Martin went to grab my wallet.” Max scoots closer to me. “As I was saying, why are you making things hard?”

“Who?” I ask, furrowing my eyebrows.

“Hayden and you. You both have to be so complicated. You guys obviously want one another and are capable of love but you guys choose to do things the hard way. It’s obvious you guys want one another.”

“How so?”

“Well, Hayden likes to hide things so he can protect the people he loves and you are stubborn and maybe even a little scared which is why you like to run away from things that make you feel something. I think you might be scared of getting hurt.

“What does this have to do with anything?” I ask and Max opens his mouth but lets out a burp. I laugh and Max laughs too. Jamie ends up coming with my drink. “Still a heavy drinker?”

“A happy drinker, Jaclyn.” Max gives me a drunk smile and I can’t help but smile back.

Eventually Martin comes back and next thing I know Martin, Max, and I are downing shots. As I try to take a step back, Max yells “Peer pressure!” for me to keep drinking.

And after that, everything goes black.

“Why the fuck did you do that?” I ask Nicole as she leans back against the wall with her arms crossed over her chest.

I pulled her away from her friends because of that goddamn kiss. She never kisses me unless it’s for publicity and I have not kissed her once, until now.
