“Patrick? The guy who runs Richard’s Manor? Why?”

“He’s in charge of making sure the Brothers are ready. He was enjoyable.” Chase shrugged.

“How old were you?”

“Twenty. You have to be twenty before you become an Elder-Son.”

She bit her lip as her imagination wandered and her body heated. “Have you been with Ethan or

Jayson?”

“I was Ethan’s first. When he joined The Brotherhood, I did for him what Patrick did for me.”

Sabrina closed her eyes and imagined him and Ethan together and shivered. Chase’s hand sliding

up Ethan’s bare back and kissing his shoulder . . .

“Do you think badly of me?”

“Why would I?” she asked, her voice cracking. “It’s . . . hot.”

“You think so?”

She squeezed her thighs together. “Yeah.”

He tilted his head and pursed his lips.

“What?”

He inhaled deeply and let it out slowly. “When Ethan and I first . . . When I had to help him get

ready . . .” He shook his head. “We got close. I mean, we were always good friends, but the physical

side kinda pushed us closer.”

Sabrina chewed her lip as she studied Chase’s face. He looked worried. “How close?”

“Really close.”

Sabrina was tempted to try to read him but didn’t think it was right to do so. “Were you in love

with him?”

Chase pressed his lips together and gave a sharp nod.

Sabrina blinked. “Was he in love with you?”

He nodded.

She blinked several times, staring at him and trying to wrap her mind around it. “But you’re . . .

now . . . you’re just friends . . .”

“Close friends, but yes, just friends.”

She drew her brows together. “How?”

“It wouldn’t go anywhere. It couldn’t. We dealt with it and moved on.”
