Tears slipped down Kelli's cheeks unchecked. She mouthed, "Thank you."

"You ever decide to leave him again or hurt him in anyway, and I'll bring hell down on you," he said.

Kelli had fifteen days to prove herself, and he'd use every Viking cell in his body to watch over his son.

"That's fair enough," she whispered and stepped outside. He shut the door. When he could inhale deeply again, he looked up and found Coco gone from the room.

Walking down the hallway, he found her standing at the open doorway of Tyr's bedroom. Her sloped shoulders. Her stillness. Her quietness spoke to him.

Change was hard. Trust even harder.

He stopped behind her and wrapped his arms around her, bringing her back to his chest. His heavy heartbeat joined hers.

Trusting Coco to oversee the care of his son, she was the only person he'd trust to protect Tyr when Kelli came to visit.

"How can I be happy for Tyr when I'm scared to death of losing him?" She held on to his arms and rested her head against his chest. "I'm a selfish person."

"You're the most giving person I've ever met," he whispered back.

She turned her head and looked at him over her shoulder. "What are we going to do?"

"We wait and see." He looked over at his son, sleeping and unaware of the turmoil in the house surrounding the only parents he'd ever known. "But I'm keeping our plans, and we move forward."

He could go face to face with any motorcycle club in the area, steal from those who would rather kill him, and live with the Federal Agents chasing his heels. But raising a son had him second-guessing his ability to love enough, to love right, to love smart.
